He's been shocking every time I've seen him this year. The Liverpool players were having a dig at him a couple of times against QPR when he greedily rocketed the ball into row ZZ when someone was available for a simple pass. He's like that annoying kid at the park who thinks he's God's gift and pulls off a Tonev every time they get the ball.

Coutinho was the only Liverpool player who looked like he could match the technical ability of the Real team.

To get anything out of that game, Liverpool would have had to force the pace and make the opposition play the Prem way. Brendan Rogers is a good manager, but he sometimes has delusions of grandeur.

When he wants it and he can be arsed, he's unplayable. But you don't see it that often. I also think moving from club to club isn't helping him. There was a brief period at City when he was delivering, but obviously he then started causing problems and despite a relatively good record in Milan, they were happy enough to let him go for what seemed like a small fee (but now appears to be a massive waste of money).

In the end he's gonna end up being a poor mans Anelka. He's just too much of a mentalist to fulfil his potential and it doesn't appear as if he'll ever grow up. It won't be long before a few stories come out of him doing something monumentally stupid and Liverpool will desperately try and flog him off for half what they paid next summer.
