Solid research from Jeff Powell in the Daily Mail:

Quote
'Falcao is touted as one of the best forwards in the world, yet Monaco have leased him out to United like a hire car. It is not players and deals like this for which the loan system was invented.'

'So, can we be sure what Falcao's position will be should United meet Monaco in the knockout stages of this season's Champions League? Have hands already well-greased been shaken on his non-participation agreement?'

That's terrible isn't it? A classic tap on the shoulder moment, "you do realize that Man U aren't..."
And also the Chelsea - Atletico Madrid semi last year.

Who would people suggest to replace Hodgson though

Rednapp, no thanks
We have tried going foreign and it hasnt worked
There is no natural replacement, no one who 'the people' are screaming out for

Neville, Southgate, Brooking,  Holloway, Hoddle again, McClaren again, Bruce, Hughes,
Allardyce ha ha, Pardew ha ha ha, management by committee

What ya gonna do, as tony s would say

They won't get rid of Hodgson before the Euros in two years. We will qualify due to the lack of real quality opposition apart from Switzerland. So in two years he might go if we have a poor tournament (again). Don't forget Allardyce was actually interviewed for the job a few years back. A number of people also believe Southgate is being groomed through the wonderful FA system to be the next man.

Watching Ireland u21s v Germany u21s on Eurosport and Grealish is absolutely murdering the Germans. Ireland aren't much cop against a clearly better side so they tend to pass straight to Jack who dances through 3 or 4 and either wins a free kick or puts someone through.

Really impressed.

Ok, so it is Ravel Morrison and Alex Song taking the piss out of Ipswich's under-21s, but this is still a rather nicely worked move.

Who remembers Merse's goal against Cov around 2001 which effectively sent them down? I think JPA scored his first against them?

I remember it well, there were at least 10,000 Coventry supporters in the Holte.

I like how, after Sven and Capello, we have now exhausted all the possibilities of 'going foreign', as if all that this mysterious place called 'foreign' has to offer consists of those two managers - two managers, by the way, who are very very similar (functional '90s Serie A stuff). It's like saying MON and Lambert weren't great, so we shouldn't appoint another manager who wears glasses.

The euros are a joke.

So many small countries who haven't chance even against England. Why would you pay good money to watch such a one sided game. These countries should play their own qualifiers against similar sized nations.

I think the finals comprise 32 countries, so yet more tedious games to avoid
