I remember the game well. I remember being 3-0 up at half time and thinking this is Everton one of the best teams in the country and we are beating them 3-0.

What I never knew at the time and only found out many years later whilst reading his autobiography was what a terrible time God was having. How someone was able to play a game of football and play so well yet be a complete and utter wreck is beyond me.

Enjoyed your responses. Just goes to prove that major football moments are more evocative than music tracks or stuff that friends and family do. Perhaps.

I remember going back home and watching the game again later that night. Back in the days of the VCR for you youngsters. I think it was on ITV at the time. As her went off Sir Graham was asked about the 3-0 lead and he responded by saying how the fans were expecting the team to go on and score 4,5,6. Thank you Sir Graham. They delivered.

And less in the ground than were at the Orient game. Welcome to 80s football kids.

I despise Chelsea and a lot of their fans more than any other.

Liverpool
Man Utd
Tottenham
Cheltenham

Then Chelsea

I know they lost but I really do admire the way Everton battle to the end for everything.  I think this is what I miss the most about Villa.  Giving the opposition a game no matter who they are.

Costa cost £4m more than Lukaku who I thought looked really average today.

Been some great action today .

Some brilliant entertainment.  Really wets the appetite for watching us attempt to bore another Villa Park visitors into submission

Did Danny Murphy on Match of the Day just give away the surprise outcome of Man City v Stoke immediately before the game was shown?

I do think thousands of men in shirts with 'Wonga' on the front looks very classy indeed

Sobering thought that Joe Hart and Phil Jagielka make up almost half of the England back line...

Colin Wanker looks well doesn't he given he's about sixty something. Much better than vampire Pellegrini. I do love Alan Pardew too, he's such a good sport

And I must have missed Balotelli joining the bindippers. The media have hardly mentioned it and MOTD tonight gave him no publicity at all

Pardew looks like the sort of bloke who'd grin amiably at you across the table at the pub whilst having his hand up your wife's skirt.

The bloke is an absolute turd.

Agreed, he comes across as unbelievably smug.
