olaftab is right when he says sometimes the keeper is half way towards the kicker by the time the ball is struck and they regularly get away with it. Just as the refs didn't often enforce the old rule about not moving in any direction until the kick is taken. Another one that gets me is people casually strolling half a mile along the touchline to take a throw in way ahead of where the ball went out.

why can't the linesman/referees assistant carry those cans of disappearing spray....where the ball goes out he sprays a small line where the player should take the throw from, or is that too simple ?

I take it that Shakhtar Donetsk won't be playing any home games in the Champions League

Burnley to beat Yanited then us to draw 0-0 is a very tempting 30/1.
Got to be worth a lady Godiva.

I thought that was a good stat. Di Maria cost a lot more than Burnley have spent in their entire history

Van Gaal is very determined to play 5-3-2 isn't he! Even playng a 60 million winger in the centre of midfield to shoe him in, a left winger at wing back etc. All very strange.

3-5-2, I'd say, because Young and Valencia are certainly not natural full-backs.

United look really uncomfortable in the formation, though. They look as though they can't work out whether to be solid or fluid.

He's done well their manager , when he's only spent 450-000

They paid 1.5m for the lad up front so he has spent more than 450k

To be fair he played there for Real and Argentina all of last season, it isn't that strange.

In the Champions League matches I saw, he was always out wide. I may have been unlucky to have  seen him in the only 4-5 games where he was out wide, but he was in the world cup too.
