I'm not sure what channel was on in the pub earlier during the Community Shied but every so often, a box appeared in he bottom left hand corner showing a player. What was that all about? It looked modernly crap.

Derby have been out of the PL a good few years. For them to be pulling in +30k is some going. Ditto Forest.

Derby averaged less than 25K last season, Forest less than 23K. Not crap but nothing special either.

A lot more impressive than Small Heath, considering the size of the city and the fact that, apparently, everyone in it supports them.

I reckon Villa would average around 35,000 in that league, at least for the first couple of seasons. We've always been a team who tend to turn up in decent numbers during real adversity.

I missed the game and also the highlights so went to Yowtowb and was shocked at the result/scoreline. What a pass from Sanchez for the second and what a goal from Giroud for the third. Although I am not sure the Community Shield should be all about Arsenal v Arsenal old stars eleven.

Derby is a city with c250k people and a sparsely populated county. Nottingham has 2 clubs and is a little over 400k. So I think Derby attendance is very impressive considering. Forest pretty good for a team who has not been in top division for a decade and a half.

I suspect our average attendance would be low 30's in the event of relegation. Still twice as much as Small Heath but proportionally not as good as East Mids neighbours

And if like forest we were down there after 15 years would we be attracting 28k ? Gates may actually go up if we went down and started winning again. I'm not advocating relegation here, just saying.

I suspect we would be getting anything between 20k and 40k with the median being 27-28k

last time we were in that league it was about 6 shillings a tickets...

people aren't going to pay £30-£35 to watch us play rotherham.

I've always had Derby down as the next biggest club in the midlands behind us. It's a proper football town.

Depends if you take into account that both counties have populations of around 750K and the only other teams in those counties are Chesterfield, Notts Co and Mansfield. And they have averages of about 6K, 5K and 3K.

I still think both Forest and Derby have decent support, but nothing special. Both have managed 30K averages just 4 times in their histories.

Surprisingly I think Brighton had the highest average attendance figures in the Championship last season.
