I think that's the same here... I only realised that a couple of years ago!

Really? I've never noticed amongst all of the games in hand and long streaks of handily arranged home matches for Manchester Utd.

Just had a look at the Villa for 14/15 - it isn't symmetrical.

Keane and Lambert watching Stoke together tonight. Playing Real Betis. One can always hope they are looking at a Betis player. Doubt it though!

Well, we know from experience that they are definitely not looking at how Stoke take set pieces.

I am paying a visit to nearest league team to home Northampton v Mansfield tomorrow. Need that annual experience of watching an opening game played in sunshine, wearing a t-shirt whilst wondering how it is possible that I'll be wearing 4 layers to matches in just 3 months' time.

Our local news just mentioned 'you can hear commentary of Middlesbrough v almost relegated Birmingham City on BBC Radio tomorrow'.

They've surpassed themselves there, season hasn't even started and they are already almost down.

Surely they must be your joint-nearest league team?

Fabio came from Brazil with his brother to play for Man Utd. Didn't he? Now in front of a half empty stadium in div 2 in a rundown satellite town of Manchester, playing for a Welsh team who don't play in their usual colours.

to be honest I'm not that big a watcher of football unless Villa or England are playing. I have to care about one of the teams otherwise it's dull to me. When I'm flicking through the channels I'll stick at a game first but has to give me the hook in the first 30 seconds to a minute or so. If not I'm off. Even if I missed the second coming of Christ, or the production at half-time of incontrovertible evidence proving the evolution theory for our less religious minded, I wouldn't be bothered to miss the rest of the game.

I do like to have a peek at someone like Holland though as they have the potential to play good attacking football. But I was like to have the odd gander at English clubs playing away at the top european teams. Chelsea push it a little but I like to see English teams in Madrid, Barcelona, Munich, the big Italian teams and so on. I used to love watching the good Arsenal team and going to places like Inter and pumping 5 past them. brilliant. not just because it was that great team but it was an English team (or a team based in England) doing it. I'll support and watch that as much as I can (be bothered).

Which actually brings me to my point. I also have a hankering to watch a game after not seeing one for a while. I didn't watch a great deal of the World Cup. And although England going out did contribute to that I think I missed what has been deemed to be a very good World Cup because Villa have made me hate watching football and England only compounded that. I, and I think we, all kind of expected it. there's the making of a team there and this is a World Cup too soon for them. But after been served up the shit we have been at Villa park that was the only possible release. But I digress...I was flicking through the channels and came to Blackburn v Cardiff. First game of the season. 1-1. Christ it was shit.

I might be wrong then, but I thought all the fixtures mirror each other all season, ie everyone who plays each other in the first week of the season will play the return fixture on the same weekend later on in the season and the pattern continues for all the games.
