If this is true, I'm not hugely down in the dumps by it. I'd guess that he will be on higher wages than anyone we've brought in since probably Vlaar so even though he's not the greatest defender in the world, it suggests we'll be looking at higher-profile players this summer than I was expecting us to. Plus, three Villa players at the World Cup rather than two.
Great news. I'm delighted with anything that pushes Baker down the pecking order

The same point is valid as was made back then.We get better by trying to sign better players than we currently have and trying to make our current first XI the replacements of the new signings. I have no problem signing Senderos as I mention above, but signing back-ups is what caused the issues last time round.
