2000-01 season review

Possibly the least memorable season of all the ones I've managed to post on here so far. What a tragedy Luc Nilis' injury was. Solid but unspectacular stuff from Villa Park.

But it contained the Coventry home game. Wonderful!

Nope, for me this is one of the most memorable ones, we had a really good squad and the new Trinity was being built. We just lacked a couple of make the difference players, mainly because De Bilde didn't make an impact and of course Nilis who everybody knew just had that presence of a world class player, i'm still gutted about it tbh. In the end too many draws cost us.

I too can hardly remember ajnything about this one apart from the pound signs and the Coventry game at the end so might give this a watch later just to see how long before I fall asleep!

Coventry was great. I remember a 2-2 with Man City at home where the Holte End was signing "What the fuck is going on?" as our normally solid defence seemed to have gone to pot, this also the game Ginola scored and whipped his top off showing Gregory his six pack. A 2-1 over Ipswich at home was good game, I remember Joachim got both our goals. This is the season Southgate spent wanting to leave and eventually did at the end of it while Ehiogu went and then came back with Middlesbrough naturally scoring for them. Staunton also returned from a spell at Liverpool. All in all though it was a average season at best and not very memorable, to me at least.
