The second half in particular was excellent. I was very nervous, even at 3-1 up with ten minutes to play. I tend to assume the players feel how I feel, but they were probably very comfortable.

As Darren Woolley pointed out very perceptively earlier in the thread, you just wish they could have done that more often. Just a handful of displays like that at home and we could say we'd made progress this season.

Didn't realise Long is cup tied! Guess he's just on the beach then.

Was thinking that early goal was just what we needed v Bradford but there was no spark. At least we had the spark yesterday in our "cup final" so well done all and sundry .

Also the fans were superb, so loud at some points. We can be proud that we have a ground that can still generate that noise level.

Did Shane Long touch the ball yesterday? Barely mentioned in the highlights which was a surprise to me as he usually has his best games of the season against us.

To be honest other than the period immediately after the goal they hardly had a sniff. We had a bit of a wobble during that period but other than that we did a good professional job of hardly giving them a sniff.

I am quite surprised at some of the reaction on here. On the pre match hardly anyone had us down for a comfortable win, yet that is what we got and instead of recognising it some people just dismiss it as though it was nothing to do with us and all down to Hull being poor.

Yes but a lot of people need more convincing that the result yesterday, and performance, wasn't because a possibly half-hearted Hull were poor rather than it being a good Villa performance.

We did look good from the small bits that I've seen but do question whether it would have been different had Hull needed the points. But that's by-the-by.

Gabby's 'push' wasn't a foul. Nobody from commentators, pundits, Steve Bruce thought it was a foul and even more compelling neither did Curtis Davies - you watch the way get gets up and runs back and even after the goal isn't claiming a foul.

That's strange that the highlights didn't show nearly every hull player around the ref moaning about the foul not being given. Because that is what happened at the time.

Speaking of Curtis Davies, I was pleased that

(A) he didn't get any stick from the home fans

(B) he wasn't any better than I remember

There were some booing from the left hand side of lower Witton end early on but nothing after that. Booing should be reserved for wankers like Downing.

Davies has become on of those players that used to play for, and you couldn't really give a toss about him either way. Kind of like a Coventry.

And I think that's healthy. There was a time when it seemed every ex-player was routinely booed, and it made no sense.

Mind you, I'd boo that spineless bucket of monkey spunk Downing all day long.

Long wasn't on the beach, he just isn't actually that good. Him and Jelavic were both crap yesterday considering that in January people were moaning that we weren't buying them.

I like Curtis Davies, not sure he got a fair crack of the whip when we played for us.

I didn't notice either of them do anything. The first time I realised Jelavic was there was when he got subbed.

Jelavic and Long can be very effective, or pretty much anonymous. Much like Gabby and Weimann.

True. But I wouldn't even boo Downing. Players like that I couldn't be arsed about. The last player I happily booed was a certain SHODGE but I'm sure my memory will kick in and I'll remember booing everyone from the physio to Benteke.

He set up the ball for Andi to head in his first goal.

My Hull supporting relative was telling me he's glad Long and Jelavic are both ineligible for the cup final - 9 goals between them since they joined isn't brilliant.
