Well the nightmare continues, after the happenings a week last Tuesday I posted something on here to the effect that they would have a positive effect on the motivation of the players. Two games later I have to say how wrong I was. Why the hell I made the trip today, four hours each way, having had two injections in my lower back yesterday evening I do not know; probably because my elder son had a ticket and I didn't want to let him down, or I'm just a sucker for punishment, or both.

Why do none of our players seem able to kill a ball dead? it seems to jump up off their feet or shins every time.

Why does Nathan Baker make more tackles with his hands and arms than he does with him feet? In fact, why do I have to watch Nathan Baker play at all?

Why, after the line up against Southampton patently didn't work, did we start with the same line up today? Whilst I'm no great advocate of Grant Holt (after all I see him as a reject from a club which was today relegated to League Two) I feel he should have started today, if only to give us a presence up front and enable us to retain the ball longer in the final third. I'd have played Weimann alongside him - I feel, sorry for Andi who is out of position on the wing.

The players just do not seem to be being coached. Bacuna has the making of a decent right back but he dozes off too easily, e.g. when we need to take a quick throw in; yes, that's something else we're not very good at. These things should be drilled into him and others at Bodymoor Heath.

In the second-half, noting the lack of effort from our players, I turned to my son and said they look as though they are unmotivated because they know they're not good enough for the Premier League and they probably think they have a better chance of still playing if we're in the Championship. What a thought!

After 80 minutes there were some very loud chants from the Villa fans of 'What the f***in' hell is this?'

Catching a couple of Lambert's comment on R5 on the way home. If he thinks we 'got off to a good start' then I'd hate to see what a bad start looks like. We were 1-0 down after 6 mins FFS. Something about 'sails falling off after the third goal'; I think they fell off several weeks ago (1 point from 18!).

'D**k of the day' award goes to the t**t in Row U, Seat 97 who fell into my son in the first-half causing him to bruise his shin on the seat in front and stub his toe.

I think I'll go and rest my back now.

I'm near the end of my 11-hour round trip and also the end of my patience.  I've just received an email from Villa reminding me that I haven't yet renewed. I suppose you have to admire their cheek but that's all there is to admire. The last couple of months have been as dismal as anything since 1986--7 and Villa are very naive if they think their season ticket holders are going to sign up for more of the same. The players are as much to blame as the manager: their performance today was devoid of skill, intelligence and commitment.  If the players aren't interested you can't  expect the fans to be.

We were just saying that in the pub when we got back.  How can they expect us to sing for them if they don't produce?

At the moment I've had enough.  Mind you, I've had a drink or two.  I needed them when we got back.  Dreadful day of football.

We got rid of Dunce no. 2 and Dunce no 3.

Unfortunately Dunce no.1 is alive and well, and mumbling to fuck.

Not all his countrymen are so inarticulate though.

Me:  I can't go through another season like this
