It was also manufactured by adults in Italy, being paid a reasonable wage, rather than by children in Asian sweatshops, like the clothing you're so fond of. Another reason to be proud of our great club.

I'd be very pleasantly amazed if this was true.  Can somebody check a label?

I've not got one handy but I'm sure I remember a video of them being made cropping up on here before.

Made in China.

Ah well... hmmm...

Maybe that video was just the design rather than the manufacture then, or perhaps I'm going mad?

Either way, I can't imagine their human rights record being worse than Nike's.

Agreed. After all China's human rights record is second to none.
Erm...

Unless you are walking around stark naked, or you are so minted you can afford clothes made by custom tailors where you know where the material was acquired and who put it together then you're on dodgy ground pulling out that card aren't you?

I may be one of the few, but i think Macron's designs have been way better than Nike's half arsed efforts

They've been a lot better, no idea why people would prefer Nike other than the fact they are Nike. The quality of the Nike shirts (most of them anyway, 2010/11 was shit) was slightly better but the designs were piss poor.

Macron got their act together a bit this season with the Macron men but I'd rather they were just fucked off entirely.

The thing I don't like with the Macron kits (ie the design) is that they are so over fussy - look at this season's home kit, all that frilly guff around the neck. Just horrible.

it's like they got caught in two minds and said fuck it go with both. The rest of the shirt isn't bad. I don't the materials they use on new kits now anyway.

Take your pick:

What about this one which is very different from the 1992 circa one

Wonder if the season card choices give a clue to the kits next season? Number 1 the home kit and number 3 the away kit? (White with claret pinstripe like 82)

This badge was used in 92! The dates are wrong on the above.

So last year there was a mega clear out at the club shop with everything £5 - including coats.

Anyone any idea if or when that will kick off again?

I would think the white tent might be making an appearance in the close season.

I love the 70s round badge, but I totally understand those who don't - I see why younger fans would not feel any kinship with it.

For me it reminds me of growing up, of winning the league cup a couple of times, of seeing people with it sewn onto denim jackets, of seeing it on our sponsor-free lovely kit of that time.

Like Theme from an Unmade Silent Movie - a sound which even now, 40 years later, makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up, as it causes brilliant memories of 1970s Villa to come flooding back - I can understand why the younger generation would feel a total emotional blank to it.

You had to be there.

Problem with the round badge -today- is it will look like Chelsea's.

We got there first in the 70's yada yada yada, but as far as promotion overseas (and possibly even copyright) it might be an issue.

Never liked the striped one, too Olbiyun.   And stripes have rarely been a part of our history (except for 1957, and the layout was different) so don't see why they should be in our badge at all.

I'd go for the 1957 crest out of all the above, though gold on a light blue background might work.  Light yellow on a light blue background has always looked a bit naff though, particularly with the fonts that look like they've been knocked up in two minutes via microsoft paint.
