Either I've just woken from a 5 year coma, or there are few on here suffering from extreme heat stroke.

I don't have any problem with showing ambition or planning for the long term, but if any fan from other clubs were to read the last few pages of discussion and they'd leave pissing themselves with laughter.

The only thing we need to build right now is a Championship winning team.

Isn't the truth more likely at least to be the plan a few years ago to increase the capacity to 51,000 or whatever it was?  That would be a simpler and cheaper solution even if it doesn't make sense at the minute.

For now just get the North Stand power-washed and painted something less awful.

The club should never have sold off the Serpentine car park - and they should have bought up all the old housing between witton lane and the railway. Eventually clearing it and flattening it. Rebuild Witton Lane stand to match the Trinity, rebuild North stand. Use the land for car park and walkway to stations.
I wouldn't disagree with any of that.

Have you any idea how many houses there are, what they would have cost and how they would have persuaded several thousand people to move home?
I was thinking more of what was said about redevoping the DE stand in line with the Trinity and rebuilding the North Stand. Just a pipe dream maybe as we really don't know what the new owners have planned for VP.

You can't widen the Witton Lane stand because of the road and the houses at the back.
They built over the road on the Aston Park side though?  And you have the land between the road and the houses on the Witton Lane side. I'd hate to think we're stuck with the DE stand in it's current form for eternity.

i need a lie down

champions league and an 80k stadium jesus wept

Quoting both because it's easier.

No one thinks this is something we need now but our new owner has made it pretty clear that he wants us to be a huge sporting and commercial success.  For the latter in particular we need a bigger ground, and we need to 'think' bigger.  My point is that I don't think our current site fits unless we go to a huge expense and get unimaginable levels of co-operation from local residents and the council.  For that reason IF everything goes to the plan that Xia has set and we're attracting thousands of Chinese tourists and even more wealthy plastics from around Europe to every home game I think we may have to accept leaving Villa Park and if so I'd like that ground to be either very near to where we are now or in the city centre, no other location works for me.

True that lol. Just a bit of dreaming to ward off the boredom of waiting for the new season to start.

10 years ago who would have thought Spurs, perennial mid-table shite living off a post code and a few cup finals, not won a title since colour TV (to give them their full title), would be a season away from moving into the second biggest league ground in the country?

We're shooting the shit, go piss on somebody else's chips.

The only place really worth leaving Aston for would be somewhere nearer the city centre. Otherwise, what's the point?

There was a time when those houses were very cheap. It could have been achieved over time - on road at a time. Working with the council (I know that's been difficult/impossible) and building new homes elsewhere it could be done.

Maybe Dr Xia's big plan?

I imagine his big plan would be to have a premier league ground next to a vibrant mall and hotel(s). A bit like outside Wembley? I can't see that happening in B6 to be honest.

If they want that we will be moved to the NEC area - that's what worried me when we were sponsored by those betting companies. I would hate us to be moved to Solihull - it would have to fumigated and purged of the unwashed.

Stay and we have to find more land near to the ground. The limited amount of knowledge about how Dr Xia works in China suggests he knows a bit about redevelopment.
He seems to know a lot about computer generated images if you ask me.
Theres enough room to tweek us up to 50,55k where we are, if needed.

With a new name too, Birmingham Villa?

I think they would have trouble getting that past the council and the police.

The Birmingham mail along with others have tried to put that on us before. Birmingham Villa.

I personally don't think we need to rebrand , unlike inferior brands that do, to try to capitalise on councils moving of boarders.

We can do something like this, just add Birmingham to our badge instead of ever having Prepared back. It would look really ace......
