Good positive talking from RDM and Xia.
It's an achieveable ambition to get back in the PL immediately, the top 6 in PL, is a bit more of a gamble, so it should be easier to convince the likes of Ayew, Traore, Okore, Veretout to commit to at least one more season, then they would be free to go after next season regardless.

It's not as simple as that though is it? We'll also be asking them to take a substantial pay cut as well.

But if RDM can convince them that we are at the start of the ambitions of the new owner, and they stay on board they could be in for Man City type of rewards. If we get promoted first go, they will all get massive pay rises, and big future earnings, if we fail and are still in the championship they can leave.
By having an ambitious owner who is willing to back his manager, helps the manager to convince the players to come/stay.
We know what the "lack of ambition" parting shot from players feels like, at least players can't use that excuse. Just give us one more season.

If we thrive under Xia then from now on I will side with the Chinese over the Yanks in every economic, land, maritime, or territorial dispute.

I would hope that in the case of Ayew, Amavi and possibly Veretout, we may renegotiate that aspect of things.

The first two were our standout players last season (not hard, admittedly) and you could make a case for their form not justifying a pay cut.  I don't imagine they would be on any more than £40k a week anyway, and if we were looking at signing players to come in an make a difference even in the championship now, you'd need to be paying close to that figure.

Well actually its Sri Lankan -  a Chicken ceylon - but as we were nearly destroyed by an American my US v China scenario still works. Indian over Chinese every day.

One of them must have uncovered a stash of bubble wrap.
