As the takeover is officially announced, the Blues ground floods! It's a sign!

I'm really, really, really glad that Randy Lerner has gone but that is not enough for me to blindly accept anyone as owner of our Club.  The little I have seen of Xia has impressed me, though.  He seems likeable and genuine from the snippets I have watched.

There's been a lot of speculation about how much he (or more precisely the RECON Group) is worth and to that end I spent an evening last week trying to find information on the companies listed on the RECON website.  There's about twenty companies listed there ( and Xia said in an interview that he has interests in over eighty).  Lotus Health alone has a market capitalisation of one billion dollars (and RECON bought that business from the Chinese Government, I think, last year). Teamax Smart City Technology has a market capitalisation of 2.6 billion dollars.  One of RECON's travel companies has a market capitalisation of 300 million dollars, likewise a machinery company (HDCNC) they own has a similar market capitalisation.

Now, I know nothing about money, I know nothing about what these figures actually mean and what they suggest in regard to the potential wealth of Xia/RECON  - bearing in mind they have loads more interests than the four I have mentioned - but it all gives me hope that the new Chairman has more of an idea about running a business than the man who has just served up the car crash of the past five years.

I long for the days when I didn't have a clue who was on the board at Villa and all I had to worry about was landing in white dog shit after attempting an Andy Gray diving header in the back gardin.

Teamax Smart City Technology has a market capitalisation of 2.6 billion dollars.

Wasn't it sold in April for 7 million USD?

The Recon Group (TRG) appears to be a company that fixes faulty electrical appliances for retail companies and brands.

The real key to his success won't be how much money he has, or can borrow. It's how good he is at finding and using skilled administrators, how good he is at making decisions, how good he is at delegating responsibility to the right people.

Randy was totally shit at those things, and all the money in the world wouldn't have helped.
That's bang on the money.

Hopefully if he's a very clever chap with a fantastic business head.

Maybe I'm looking at the wrong thing/company but I'm basing my figures on Google finance:

No, you're not wrong, Billy, they were bought by Softto but changed THEIR name in May to Teamax.

I've just watched the video with Dr Xia and RDM and they both looked quite proud when they were on the Villa Park turf.

Yep, good luck, it would be great to make Villa Park a ground feared by all...well except our own players.

I'm very happy this is all sorted now. Hopefully he'll do okay. One thing he has right off the bat is the right ideas and the right ambition. Another thing he has is that he wants the club. He wants to be here and he wants this project. Randy just lost all interest after O Neill left, and by the time McLeish had come and gone, Randy was left completely apathetic and actively trying to get rid of us. We were a festering boil on his arse as far as he was concerned. That apathy was only ever going to filter down through the club and to the players, most of whom, ultimately thought they could do the bare minimum.

On the whole the new board is decent (Samuelson is questionable). We've got experience on the board though, and a new owner with some grand plans. The new management and coaching team is impressive too (on paper).

I'm a lot more optimistic now. I think Randy, had he stayed, could well have overseen a double drop. We'd have been lucky to finish mid-table next season.
