I've always found Pat Murphy a decent reporter with whatever he's covered in both the Cricket and Football world. Like or loath he always gives us FACTS.

A joint enquiry by the two leagues continues and will not be rushed as all aspects of the proposed takeover are scrutinised, including the likely make-up of the new board of directors.

This is the bit i am interested in.
I think the DR X and money part is fine, he has the funds, it's how the football club will be run is important.
We are one of the jewels in the crown of the FL now, if they let us turn into the new Portsmouth, it wont reflect well on us or them.
With talk of this Chris Samuelson bloke, and looking at his dealings with Reading, the FL don't want to f**k this up and let a wrong 'un through.

Some interesting reading on Samuelson here.
Bloody hell, if only half of that is true I don't want him anywhere near our club. I just pray that if the Doctor is proposing him as a director the FL tell him to do one.

There is a thread dedicated to Samuelson on TBAR if anyone is interested.
Some interesting points that the FL and PL tightened up their checks after his involvement with Reading and his proposed takeover of them.

I don't want him anywhere near us either. I've yet to find anything positive about him. His association with a failed takeover at Everton would be hilarious if he (and Wyness) weren't connected with us. The Reading story is frightening and Bristol Rovers were lucky to escape his approaches.

Effectively this whole thing dragging on is a result of Small Heaths incompetence. More reason to hate those bastards.

Can someone answer my question about player retained lists?

Why would we need to send them lists of players that we are retaining?

We'll be retaining all of our players who are under contract until we either sell them or their contracts end.

As far as I am aware, clubs have to submit a list of players who will be retained for the forthcoming season.
I think it is with regards to the following;

Article 6 of the Regulations for the Status and Transfer of Players ('FIFA Regulations') adopted by FIFA's Executive Committee on the 18 December 2004.

The Club ceases to be a premiership club today...

Is it today or next week? There's an article about 10 pages back in which that luminary of investigative journalism, Gregg Evans, states we're technically a PL club until 8th June?

Not sure when the deadline is but the FA released details of who was retained the 12th of June last season, contracts being up on the 30th June.

EDIT: In fact the details of the release by the FA said the info was accurate as of 16th May, so the lists must have been submitted earlier than that.

The fear is that Xia doesn't has significant personal wealth or access to wealthy Chinese backers and, as befits his background, his business plan is tried up with a regeneration project around Aston.

The league has (ideally) got to unravel to what extent Xia has got himself in hoc to Samuelson and what the inderlying terms are in putting together the deal.

The absolute worst thing would be for Samuelson to turn out to be behind a deal to fund this for Xia.

That's a pretty plausible explanation for his involvement in the bid in the first place, too. Which in turn makes me wonder how much money Xia actually has if he has to use a shyster like Samuelson.

A couple of seasons ago I thought Pat Murphy had it in for us and was buying into the "lovely ickle Baggies" myth they peddle and going over to the Dark Side. Then his interviews with McMumbles started to make sense when TSM2 couldn't ramble his way out of direct questions and I must admit that I now listen to Murphy with interest and tend to believe what he is saying.

One of the reasons I like him both personally and professionally is that he says what he thinks and believes. He doesn't do it for Facebook likes or page hits, he has opinions he sticks to and if he says he thinks something will happen it's because he believes it will, not to stir up controversy.
i have never really understood the antipathy towards him on here when, in my opinion he seems to be doing his job with some level of journalistic integrity.

My take too. He would rather be covering premier league games at Villa Park than division 2 stuff.

Reading that, by the second Saturday in June we basically need to inform the league what we intend to do with each player currently registered to us.

So there will be one big long list of "still under contract", a short list with the likes of Richardson and N'Zogbia titled " out of contract and not getting another one ", and probably a very short list of " out of contract and being offered another one ".

I really don't want to even think of the consequences should the deal collapse but it's not like he doesn't have previous. The only straw I'm clinging onto now is Hollis. I pray he's as smart as I think he is and has done his homework.

Edit: Just seen Chelts post. Goes of to play some Bob Marley.
