And isn't what Murphy is now reporting precisely what Xia said a week or so back about the money being in England so something like that for the actual purchase of the club?

I'm no huge fan of Pat Murphy because of how he has reported on us over the years but in terms of credibility and accuracy he's very reliable. And if suggests the deal has fallen through then it might well time to get concerned. Not when Charlie Sale suggests it. And certainly not coming out of Ray Wilkins' useless fat gob.
Ray also said this morning on Talksport, that if Tim Sherwood, bless his soul (not kidding), had been able to pick his players, Villa would not have been relegated. (More Richards/Lescots would have done us a world of good). Clown

Perhaps he should have also explained why Sherwood lied about picking the players, instead of resigning over this outrage.

A couple of seasons ago I thought Pat Murphy had it in for us and was buying into the "lovely ickle Baggies" myth they peddle and going over to the Dark Side. Then his interviews with McMumbles started to make sense when TSM2 couldn't ramble his way out of direct questions and I must admit that I now listen to Murphy with interest and tend to believe what he is saying.

One of the reasons I like him both personally and professionally is that he says what he thinks and believes. He doesn't do it for Facebook likes or page hits, he has opinions he sticks to and if he says he thinks something will happen it's because he believes it will, not to stir up controversy.

i have never really understood the antipathy towards him on here when, in my opinion he seems to be doing his job with some level of journalistic integrity.

Whenever I have listened to him talk about us over the last few years I have thought that he was miffed that a club of our history and catchment area was making such a fkn pigs ear of things on the pitch.

BBC are reporting this lunchtime (1st June 1pm) that Xiz has put £52m in an Escrow account to pay LErner and has shown funds are available to cover £25m of debt. The BBC report says that the deal is now expected to go through.

The Club ceases to be a premiership club today, so its up to the Football League to approve the deal. FIt and Proper normally means the bidder has the cash in hand.

It is unlike the BBC to get things this wrong. A deal should be concluded very soon if they are right.

I think Pat Murphy can be a bit of a prickly character with the limit amount he gets on Twitter, but his articles are usually well put together. I feel sorry for some journalists on social media because it's pretty much designed for exclusives and showing off. I don't agree with everything Pat Murphy says but there's a few sports journalists who I think have credibility and he's certainly one.

Journalist Matt Scott on Talksport soon talking about why the Villa deal is taking longer than expected but apparently good news to come from him when he comes on according to H&J.

Is the deal really taking that long though? We knew the Football League had to carry out their checks, and we only officially became a Championship club today.

How do you get a reaction from something that is not moving.  You poke it with a stick.

The media is no different.  There has been no news on the takeover for a few days so a small piece is placed in a side article to generate a reaction from the club/buyer via increasing chatter about the rumour.  This is my view on how it may have played out.

I caught a snippet of him on SSN over the weekend saying that Villa's biggest mistake this season was sacking Sherwood as he was doing a 'great' job and had done a 'great' job at Spurs.  Used to quite enjoy listening to him talking about football, but now turn off when I hear his voice or see his face pop up.

Is that the twat who said he had 'evidence' it was all off due to lack of funds who backtracked 30 mins later to say he now has 'evidence' that its all back on ?

Matt Scott from Inside World Football, a really great journalist is saying there are whispers of this takeover being in trouble due to finances.

Di Matteo will still happen. Met Keith Wyness and is apparently happen.

Chris Samuelson actually met with Xia rather than the other way round about buying a football club. ( Hmmmm )
