The Telegraph are saying the league have concerns over some of the proposed Board Members.

Then it says they 'are poised to begin due diligence' next month, so I don't understand that. If they haven't started looking at it, how can they have concerns?

Well, it's those Chinese, isn't it? Must be dodgy, not like us Brits.

Ah yes but it could be the PL who don't hand us over until 8th June.  Or it could all be bollocks.

I hate Coventry, not because the city centre is shit, or the shitty ring road, or the crappy little football club whose fans are the worst I've come across.  It's because having played rugby all over the east and west midlands and a fair bit around Northants and Beds as well Coventry still stands as the only place where a team hasn't 'left it on the pitch'.  If It was a one off I'd think that it was down to a couple of idiots but it's happened 4-5 times at 3 different clubs, once they slashed the types on all of the cars, another time we came off the ptich to find all of our stuff in a pile outside the clubhouse having been stomped all over.  Worst of all we had a guy get sent off for stamping on someone and he went and got a big bunch of guys to come and 'do us' after the game, thankfully someone had spotted them all and called the police but being escorted off a pitch by the police while about 50-60 pissed up chavs throw beer bottles at you isn't pleasant.  Fucking horrible little hole full of nasty little scumbags, it's a stain on the the entire region as far as I'm concerned.

Flippin' heck paul, who did you play for?
Have to say that whenever I played over in Coventry there was always a punch up on the pitch, but never as bad as you had.
Did you ever play Matson, down in Gloucester?
Big council estate by the ski slope.
That was an experience

I played for Hinkley and Old Yardleians (and outside the area Ashby and a club in Northampton).  The one with the police was a club in Canley but I can't remember what they were called.  The tyres thing they insisted wasn' to do with them but no one from the club had any problem, can't remember what the club were called though, played near the Ricoh at the time and I'm fairly certain they disbanded not long after, I know we didn't play the return game and all the points for their fixtures were wiped.  The last one was probably only borderline in Coventry at all, it's a place called Keresley a bit north of the city.
I believe the club you mentioned that could not remember may have been barkers butts,
I played there for Erdington also Birmingham and we decided that we should kick anything that moved on the pitch for our survival

That does sound familiar actually.  Rough on the pitch never bothered me, once you've played at Worksop there's not many dirty tricks that surprise you anymore (however as soon as the game finished they were great, got a fair few free beers, a good meal and an open invite for a night out and somewhere to sleep if things got too messy.

On Brummie accents, living in Ireland, if i ask for a pint of Budweiser  in the pub they give me a bottle, if i ask for a "point a bud" i get the drink i want.
People laugh when i say tuthbrush and tuthpaste, not too-thpaste, or yogut not yo-gurt.
Gansey is also slang for jumper but derives from the Gaelic geansai Arann - Arann jumper.

I still haven't come across anyone outside Birmingham who knows what the outdoor is.

Gansey isn't a Brummie term, I've heard that all over the UK, especially in Yorkshire.

I was bought up on the borders of Cheshire/Staffs and we used the word Gansey for a jumper with a zip up front sometimes the arms were of a different material to the bodice but that might be a bit pinicky

I'm of the Irish persuasion but I always understood that gansey is a corruption of Guernsey, sort of like jersey.

Matson! What a joyous place. And still struggles to vet in top 3 areas shit list in Gloucester.

It's no Coney Hill

I'd say Tredworth or Barton Street.

I'm not sure if Barton Street would beat 'Nam's Hester's Way in a game of shit area Top Trumps
