It's the gold the're after.

If that is the case the only way their getting it is to make us successful.

I didn't say I thought it was a con, I just pointed out that there are hallmarks of one. And yes, it would be a strange old con trick which paid out loads of money to make us really successful. But like it or not, there is a prestige to owning a grand old club like us, but maybe we're not the ones our new owner is trying to impress. It's been said the Chinese President is keen to establish his country as the world leader in football; what better way to curry favour than by owning a major British club? Getting them into the top division again and simply keeping them there might be small beans compared to the influence ot might bring. Nobody has heard of Xia - that might change because of Villa.

Like many have mentioned, who gives a kipper if we're successful and winning? I won't, but I'm still conscious of the potential for us to be a bargaining chip rather than a long term project.

There won't be a single problem if that bank statement he produced with 430million pounds sitting in his account like he says is genuine

I don't think "just keeping them there" would be enough. They'd need a few days out at Wembley and some European football I think. And then the phrase "everyone would be a winner" springs to mind?

Most certainly, as long as the money isn't turned off like it was with Lerner.

This is something else that's nagged at me. If it is all some massive con behind smoke and mirrors, what is Xia looking to gain from it? Cos I'm buggered if I can see.

Publicity?

Being exposed as a conman wouldn't be great publicity.

True but I can't mind any of the story behind Michael Knighton apart from his name. I'm in the 'let the dice roll' camp but it doesnt smell right.

The mid-April date on that bank receipt suggests to me that this deal's been in the making for at least a couple of months and quite possibly longer.

You'd have to expect that Randy's people have been thoroughly scrutinising it for a considerable time now. I suspect it was largely done a while ago, probably when relegation was mathematically confirmed and it's just been announced to coincide with the end of the season.

We are going to look like an absolute bunch of numptys, much more so than we do already, if this all goes tits-up due to him failing the PL & FL fit and proper test. That's my main worry now.

http://blogs.wsj.com/moneybeat/2016/05/10/chinese-acquisitions-of-foreign-firms-already-at-full-year-record/

Spent a lot of time reading up on Recon, Teamax, MOScombine, XWHO, and there are lots of deals, mergers and acquisitions mentioned, most with Chinese or Asian companies I haven't heard of. Then read about China's A&Ms this year and realised I haven't heard of the biggest deal in the world 46 billion for a Swiss company Syngenta.
I think we are all a bit sceptical of this deal and Dr X because nobody knows a lot about him and Recon.

As laid out under the criteria, which have been quoted several times, he's not going to fail the O&D test.

No Premier League no money.

No one is going to make a bean out of this football club unless we get back in the Premier League. There's fuck all money in the Championship and we are running at a big loss.
