Don't know if it's been posted but the guy who did the interview with Xia in the Daily Mail tweeted that his Harvard Professor got back to him and confirmed his education there and at MIT is fully legit and exactly as described.

Thanks for that. Actually that is re assuring. I think there was some PR screwup about the announcement, given Villa's PR department allows Lerners bizarre statement to go out unedited and I am afraid I now assume it was Villa's mistake not Xia's.

why would they edit statements made by the owner?

Because its their job to look after his image and Aston Villa's. A good PR person would take Lerners statement then gently approach and work with Randy to polish it into something that would benefit Randy and the club.

Randy does not strike me as some ogre who would tell his PR rep to bugger off. He is an intelligent man who could use some help in that department.

As it is it appears they just go out unedited and are, well, a bit strange really.

But that's not editing. It's advising him of saying certain things or helping understand the impact of what he says. Editing suggests that they read the original statement and make changes to it without Randy's approval which they'd likely be fired for. And for all we know that is a managed statement from the original. Scary as that might sound.

Well I for one am glad we aren't going to get any more of Lerner and his statements that come across like the ramblings of a jilted drunk.

If you want to see how the Chinese are already investing in Birmingham take a walk around Selly Oak. The number of students from China has grown massively over the last few years. They have brought a lot of money into the area.
If China are building all these new cities why havent  they build some university's

Good universities take 800 years or so to build.

There was a time when the only Chinese that were widely known in England were Wei Wei Wong and the lesser known Mao Tse Tung. How times are changing.

Before the Present Mrs Green retired from Cambo Earth Sciences Department her first job of the day was to make the Chinese students who had worked all night go home (digs, not China).

With regards Chris Samuelson. Would he even now get FL approval since he's been linked with the fininacial troubles at reading from his position with them?

Has anyone ever failed the fit and proper test?

This is from Wikipedia.......
The first director known to have failed the test was Dennis Coleman, director of Rotherham United when they went into administration in 2006 and 2008In November 2009, Stephen Vaughan, then owner of Chester City, became the first owner to fail the test, after he was legally disqualified from being a director of any company. This was a result of VAT fraud as owner of Widnes Vikings rugby club. He transferred control of Chester to his son, Stephen Vaughan, Jr.
In March 2012, Rangers owner Craig Whyte was found not to be a fit and proper person as the result of an independent enquiry.
In June 2014, Louis Tomlinson, former footballer and member of the boy band One Direction, and John Ryan, businessman and previous Chairman of Doncaster Rovers, launched a bid to buy the club but one month later Ryan was found not to be a fit and proper person due to a lack of funding.

that's just reheating existing news morsels and adds nothing to what we already know/don't know.
