The whole thing looks like the man that built his house upon the sand. We should pull out and go back to the other 5 bidders and see what their plans are instead.  This guy may have grand plans but there is nothing to suggest he had ever done anything more than embellish his self worth.

With regard to Lerner selling to the "right" people, as a buyer, what would you do? He's hardly been a successful benefactor whose race is run and is looking to pass on his baton. For ten years he had his chance, I think he's foregone any rights to attempt to dictate ongoing direction and policy of the incoming administration. I'd be inclined towards "uh-huh, uh-huh, yeah mate, right. Tell ya what, here's your money, take it back to your family. Now there's the door, use it". Turns out Ellis fucked up on judging who to sell to, too, when the vast majority of us spent at least four years extolling him for his last noble act. I don't think any of us can judge how this is going to play out in the coming years, certainly not based on 72 hours of fractured communication, gut feeling and shoes. We've got little choice but to wait til the smoke clears. Roll on June.

Lerner could've sold last two summers but something cropped up at the last minute for him to veto two deals I think.

In any case really Lerner appointed Hollis to vet all the interested parties and come to him with the best solution. Now this is part of Hollis's skillset isn't it, he's supposed to be good at this sort of thing so if he's identified this man and group as legtimate then I'll (maybe naively) trust him on this one.

It is in Lerner / Hollis' best interests to sell us to someone with the right intentions and the right money.
Lerner stands to almost double his money if we are promoted, he will want to know that there is a good chance of that happening and that the new man has the money to pay up. And for all we know there are further success related clauses.
My only concern is that the success isn't achieved by bank loans etc.
Personally though, I think Xia / Recon is probably a front for Chinese government who can't be seen to be buying a football club, and that's why the trail on the money is so vague.

Lerner could have doubled his money by keeping us and investing the 40m himself, getting promoted and then selling us.
