With regards to what we know about Tony Xia ,  how much did we know about Abramovic or Sheik Mansour before they took over their clubs?

By comparison, shit loads.

What more did we know about Abramovic other than he owned a company in Russia...so not different to the Dr owning a company in China?

I'd never heard of Abramovich but I remember the evening news on the BBC making it headline news when he bought Chelsea and saying how seriously wealthy he was and how it was a massive game changer.

Well that's the thing though...it was a long time ago but I think the coverage was along the lines of mysterious Russian Billionaire buys Chelsea who's made his money in Oil and is friends with Putin.....

So not too dissimilar to this one.

I'm very much in the wait and see camp rather than thinking the league will suddenly relegate us another 5 divisions just because some pieces of the story don't exactly fit.

Got no evidence, facts or ITK, but what worries me is that Lerner got everything wrong in his decisions where we were concerned.

Has he suddenly got something right?

I wonder......but it does worry me.

It's as much Hollis's decision as Randy's surely?

Hollis's specific job as chairman was to vet the interested parties and represent to Lerner the best one for him and the club to sell to.

Hollis is supposed to be an expert at this sort of thing I keep being told?

Was looking forward to a summer without thinking about Villa. The whole place is just so instable. Going to be weeks of drama about new owners and manager before we're suddenly thrust into the new season. Just don't think we're going to be prepared for it at all...

Watch that Hollis interview again. Any amateur psychologist worth his salt will spot the bit where he scratches his cheek when explaining Dr X's many achievements. I think they edited out the bit where he strokes his chin and says "Ooh, Nessie."

Absolutely, that's why I said pedant alert.

It was easy to establish the Mansour's connection to a sovereign wealth funds that counts money in billions, the way most of countries pounds.

Similarly with Abramovich, he'd been sniffing around a couple of clubs for a while, including Spurs who i think were his original target. His direct link to significant funds thanks to Putin's patronage and reports of a desire to settle outside of Russia for a while following a falling out were fairly easy to establish.

This guy though. It all feels a bit nebulous. Trying to draw a definite picture of him is like knitting fog.

He might well be a straight up bloke (or as straight up as you can be at that level )that manages his money through Recon which is why his personal wealth us comparatively small. But all the small, needless, quickly exposed embellishments, coupled with the the amount of effort required to find anything other than press releases and spoon fed interviews do not inspire confidence. Quite the contrary.

Let's face it we are a midlands club who have just been relegated. Did we really expect some like Warren Buffet coming in and saying I'll buy the club and then throw 10's of millions at it. We are hardly a fantastic investment opportunity. .not many billionaires in the world want to see their fortune depleted by buying a football club. In the eyes of the outside world we don't have that much going for us at the moment.

I take your point and would hope that Hollis held Lerner's hand through the process .......but.....the outcome still worries me.

Also the bit where he cups his slenders and the bit where he has as good scratch up his arsehole  with his index finger.  Clear case a roids.

Its fascinating to see opinion wildly surge to the negative so soon. It's a great read. Some quality comments.

Although cautious about the new guy I'm prepared to see what he offers. You never know it just might be positive. Somebody seen at games would be a start.

Can any of us see how it will go with whoever was going to take us on. If the Doctor passes the relevant checks then let's see what happens.
That's all fine and dandy, but if he scrapes through all the checks its too fkn late, hes a wrongun

And your evidence is?
The shoes.

Exactly - you have none. None of us have any evidence, or proof, one way or the other about this bloke so to get hysterical and/or throw all sorts of accusations around about him is absolutely pointless.

Well, some lies have already been outed

The controlling interest in five major companies thing, for example. The Birds Nest stadium stuff.

Sorry but this is the ownership of our club we are talking about. It's too important to not be concerned about this sort of thing.

Indeed.  It's now been confirmed they only have a controlling interest in Lotus so in theory if they wanted to plunge cash into Villa then only Lotus have the final say on it - without a controlling interest in the other companies then cash can't just be demanded.  So turning back to Lotus great let's have their cash.  Only problem with that - they made a £53.5m loss.  So where does the cash come from? Banks?  Hedge funds? It's concerning you'd have to say.

Easily done once you accept the the appearance of the things-as-seem and fail to apprehend the essence of thing-as-they-are.

Schoolboy error to be fair. Kant, innit.
