I have to say, this has sucked every ounce of wind out of my sails on what was an enjoyable Friday afternoon. The club or Dr T need to come out with a statement in response to this as fans will quite understandably be fearing the absolute worst now. I am clinging to paul_e's optimism and the fact that Hollis surely can't have agreed this without indepth checks....but right now I feel a muppet for dismissing  my sceptical mates. The FT is a pretty reliable source.

I admit to being a natural pessimist, but this thread is getting worse with every post I read.  With the club in the precarious position it is in, an absolute shyster coming in now could absolutely ruin us.  I guess the managerial appointment will tell us a lot of what we need to know.  If it is someone no one has ever heard of, then it is time to be concerned.

Quite possibly. Hollis needs to be questioned. If only we had a decent local press.

John E you are on a loser here. We have cash to spend and he is taking this far more seriously than Lerner ever did. By all means be sceptical, but dial in the "wrong un, shyster, chancer" stuff.

Judge on actions. And lighten up a bit. The well meaning man child has fucked off. That's worth a cheery pint in anyone's book.
There's no reason to be accusing the guy of being a 'wrong un' etc but it would be very nice to have a clearer idea of who he was and what he's done.
All we have is the MSG company and vague stuff about infrastructure companies with wildy varying valuations and nothing backing it up.

The fact that Hollis is happy with the deal is some comfort but it still leaves me not having a clue whether our new owner has borrowed cash to buy us or is planning on borrowing more in future. Those are important details.

What are you on about with 'nothing backing it up'? In an hour last night I found all 5 of the companies they say are listed on the stock exchange and 4 of them were linked in this thread (here's the one I haven't linked - http://www.reuters.com/finance/stocks/overview?symbol=000662.SZ - I only held off on it because I was trying to work out how the merger/acquisition of softto fitted in).  That's the smart cities company and has a market cap of 16.2bn Yen, I think it's safe to say that's where most of the money from the urbanisation work has gone.  Unfortunately they don't seem to have posted accounts for a couple of years (I don't know why) so it's tough to get a full position on them but they're certainly a big company.

Just curious but how did you find these companies that Recon doesn't own a controlling share in?

What are the thoughts of the Supporters' Trust?

Just what I was thinking. Do they have any financial expertise?

I'm just waiting to hear that Tone was *actually* attending the Harvard Hairdressing College (Dean: C. Yeung) and Massachusetts Institute of Telesales and is alumni with "Dr." Gillian McKeith.

The club's being Shanghaied, as it were

It was only a few days ago we were told Rui Kang were owned by the Chinese government. That was my favourite story.

I think all they need is Google. There's virtually nothing on there. I think even as a nobody, before yesterday a Google search for me would probably have turned up more webpages than our Tone.

Come to think about it, the more I mention "Tone", the more I think of "On yer bike!".

I see the trust have Lord King but I doubt if he will be saying anything!

The 3 of the company names and stock exchange registrations were on their website.  The one you've linked took a bit more effort but in the end it was because the company website had an interview introducing Xia as their new chairman.

The plot thickens.

Why did Hollis mention the Birds Nest? I don't see how we can believe a word he said.

People saying he wouldn't put his reputation on the line and you trust him... seems a bit naive that.

I really hope this bloke does not turn out to be another Terry Ramsden..A very good talker and still popular down Walsall way but in the end they found he had no substance whatsoever.
