Depends. Are we buying with the season after next in mind? if so, we need some permanent replacements good enough for the Premier League. if so, 30-40m is nowhere near enough given how much of the squad needs upgrading.

Depends if it is just flat out fees, or Doug-style accounting.

You never know, Randy could be having the last laugh on us for slagging him off these past few years and chose the dodgiest out of the four bidders just to piss us off?

£30/40 m if added to any sales we make could be £50m+. How many Championship sides spend £50m+? Off the top of my head, none.

A professor just means that you're teaching a subject though doesn't it?

Anyway, could you imagine the meltdown if Lerner has stayed  and said that we'd only be spending £30m-£40m on new players this season?

Given what was spent over the last few years, I'd have been over the moon with spending £30m this summer.

Also...

"Xia said he will spend between 30 and 40 million pounds on new players for the upcoming season, and will announce a new club manager in the next two to three weeks."

Sorry but that's almost word for word what Carson Yeung said when he bought Blose.

Yep, that's how I remember their takeover as well. Not sure at all about this, very much hope to be proved wrong.

It does have worrying similarities... not least talk of being backed by the Chinese government.

Was either deal backed by the Chinese government? Not as far as I know, but I hope ours actually is.

Both rumoured to be. I'm not saying there's any truth in either.

It does, but you have either gained a PhD or haven't. I mean you can call yourself a Dr without one, a bit like Dr Fox or Dr Alban or Dr Gillian McKeith. Lets just hope this guy isn't some Walter Mitty style, Frank Abigale Jr character.

Well, he certainly sold the Browns to a charlatan.

If (and it's a big if at the moment) we are about to flog ourselves to a dodgy character I hope Mervyn King comes out and says something.  At the very least, I hope the fit and proper persons testing  thoroughly looks over RECON's financials and plans.

Well it's done now, only time and experience will tell if he's a good custodian.

That definitely won't happen.

Some sad obsessed Nose has found evidence that he owned/lived at a residence in Boston for a time at the house owned by his Professor.

I think we should all just sit back and let the Small Heath Scrutineers do our digging. They've got our backs on this one.

Just like the only possible reason Villa supporters said that the Yeung takeover looked suspect was because we wanted it to be the case.

I don't recall Villa fans digging around the internet to unearth a scoop. We just hoped he'd be like the Kumars and he was.

I'm no longer concerned as there is no way he would pass any fit and proper test if there was anything dodgy.

If he's willing to spend £40m, added to sales of our current players we could end up with a transfer budget of £40m + 1p
