I would not like to tell Steve Hollis to his face that he is anybody's stooge.  I have more than one close contact who have met him a number of times and I trust implicitly their judgement that he is very much his own man.

If he's been in the driving seat throughout this latest search for a new owner I feel more confident than if it had been, say, led by some banker from Merrill Lynch reporting back to Randy.
Not to diss our friends in international banking but their priorities are not necessarily the same as a Villa fan's would be, as far as football criteria with ownership credentials are concerned.
I get that to an extent Lou, but Hollis has admitted to not being a football man, so what are the criteria he's applying. It really depends on what he saw as his remit, to get the best deal for those who employed him, or to get the best deal for the club.

I'd be delighted to have my scepticism of this whole thing proven hopelessly misplaced, but we're nowhere near that yet.
I'm going on the basis that Hollis is here. He has been talking to Sir Brian, Sir Mervyn and Bernstein, whilst the latter 2 were still there. He has been in the Club, hearing what people have to say as well as Villa opinion expressed verbally on match days as well as online.
It makes him more aware of priorities for Aston Villa than somebody sitting in Chicago, or wherever.
Steady on
Oooh. Are you a banker? Sorry!
I meant, er, Caracas.
i think Meryll Lynch did find these people.

i think the events over the last few years has knocked the stuffing out of us, so not surprised that people are less than confident.
I am just glad the Lerner era is over.

As you say, after the last few years of confusion, so am I.

There's a potentially brilliant future.
Fingers crossed.

Right now I have no idea who they are or if they skint or minted. I'll judge them on what they do, the people they appoint and forgo any of the PR and spin.

Which is about all we can do now. I doubt it will be as mental as the Lerner years. Either way, it won't be boring.

By the way, Collymore reckons Dr X is worth £27BILLION.

Oooh that's more like it!

That is obviously untrue as that would make him the second richest person in China in which case he would be exceedingly well known. He doesn't exist on the China rich list (which goes down to $850m at number 394 where it ends).

Good luck Tony, and welcome!

Having lived all over China for almost 5 years, it became a second home for me. I certainly do not buy into the `it is Chinese, it must be dodgy` argument.

I have a good feeling about this.(Possibly just to be rid of Lerner)

Congratulations to the Recon Group and Dr Xia on their purchase of the finest of football clubs.

An interesting few weeks await where actions will tell us more than any words as to what the new owner's intentions are.

Exactly how I'm feeling as well. We wanted Lerner to sell, he has and now we sit back and see what happens.

Bit weird that Wyness according to some reports was actually involved in another bid but will still become CEO. Thst Samuelson is quite clearly one dodgy fucker. Any group even half the stated size of this one wood have a larger online presence and the guy himself seems to not actually have that much cash.  Call me a party pooper but in the revisionist romantic way people wanted Doug back last season, i give it 2 years until we are revising some of our opinions of the frankly unhinged Lerner. Stormy seas ahead i reckon. I hope to be very wong.

Yes Welcome Tony, what the future holds no one knows, but all we hope and pray for is that you put a structure in place that allows the best chance of a football club to prosper and succeed, that you take a keen interest in all matters Aston Villa and that in 5 years time we have not pushed you to the brink of waffling on about Shulamites and then keep us waiting until you are going out the door, to explain your total fascination with second rate Scottish managers, Banokburn WTF. Oh and anopther plus is your not Randy Lerner.
