I thought I'd be doing cartwheels the day Lerner finally sold but I'm not, glad to see the back of him but apprehensive about what's ahead. That might be because i've got the dentist first thing in the morning.

Me too. Well, 11.20. Good luck mate.

To make things easy, I'd prefer it if we can refer to Our Tone (as I call him) in terms of Abramovich's. What I mean is, how many Abramovich's is Tone worth? To the nearest Abramovich, naturally.

There's this. sina sports. Admittedly it is primarily about today's events, and it's in Chinese, but they don't look like coiffeurs.
That's sealed the deal for me

Are there plans for a Chinese website as I think I and v can reach out to bigger market audience that would be impressive

We've had one for a few years. And a chinese twitter and facebook presence.

Ahead of the game that's why we like it good sports as they say !

Well, if no-one else has said it, welcome to Aston Villa, Tony.
I think you have just hit the jackpot as far as clubs are concerned.

Let's get up to the top 6 by all means. Let's see your passion for the Claret and Blue!
Then, Champions League and on to world domination!

I like a new start and I am really hoping for something to cheer, come next season.

Up The Villa!

Just show some fucking business sense, Tony, that'd be a start.

And please, please, please invest.

Right now I have no idea who they are or if they skint or minted. I'll judge them on what they do, the people they appoint and forgo any of the PR and spin.

Which is about all we can do now. I doubt it will be as mental as the Lerner years. Either way, it won't be boring.

By the way, Collymore reckons Dr X is worth £27BILLION.
He also predicted exciting times last summer.

Look, i get people are happy with lerner gone and that, but we've been here before. We were delighted when doug sold up, and I also distinctly remember concerns being ignored when it came to randy, like most ignored the concerns raised about o'neill. To be honest, I'm sick of being disappointed, so unless I'm given tangible proof rather than hearsay, I'm going to remain sceptical.

I know, just passing on what he said. I'm with you, sceptical, but not without hope. Got to give him the benefit of the doubt. What other choice do we have?

Just logging in briefly to say I am very glad that Lerner is gone. The darkness is lifting. Villa badly needed a fresh start because since 2010 the very visible 'pulling away' by Lerner allowed a rot to set in. Standards slipped, people became complacent and villa declined as did the calibre of personnel being attracted.

People are unsure about the new owners but that misses the point. Lerner's legacy to villa is a very troubling one. He left us sliding for half a decade and this ended in eventual relegation, a shocking squad with a disgraceful attitude, redundancies and the closure of pats of the ground. Him remaining as owner would have been a disaster, more likely to lead to another relegation fight than any promotion charge. As things stand, it is likely we will look back on the period 2010-2020 as a lost decade (assuming we get promoted I can't see us returning to the top half in such a short space of time) and that is pretty grim as a legacy. That's how bad Lerner was.

Let's give the new guy a break. For one, he is the new start we needed and we might actually have a chance of galvanising and setting the bar a little higher. He will have new ideas and a fresh approach. We have reason to be more optimistic today than yesterday. Let's see where this takes the club.

Here's Collymore's tweet:

Dr Xia estimated wealth is £27bn with Recon Group at £100bn.

Needs confirmation but in comparison..

Sheikh Mansour 20bn

I'm off for a lie down!!!

I think that's probably amongst the least reliable pieces of financial information to grace the internet.

What's a smart city?

I guess that I'm impressed by my phone automatically translating that article means I'm probably too much of a luddite to understand.

So the miserablist conspiracy is that the Lerner family trust made Steve Hollis fabricate evidence that Xia is not a shyster in order to force through a sale. Xia is a faker and Hollis is a stooge.  Got it.

FFS I was desperately trying to work out some witty riposte to that along the lines of 2.30, but James absolutely nailed it. Excellent work.
