if there is a bucketload of money and plans to make us the biggest club in china that would be the bollocks

then di matteo is mentioned and developing the ground to generate revenue to buy players and i think is that a bottle of wash and go in his pocket

Developing the ground to generate revenue and make the club self-sufficient is a requirement, even Chelsea and Man City have done it because you can't run a successful club which hasn't got the infrastructure in place for very long.  That's the bit that Lerner really missed a trick on, every other bad decision came as a consequence of that failure to really drive the turnover up.

Is that real? Who are all those other names bar Tony & Keith?!

Number 6 looks a bit like "Crook" - thats a bad sign
Chris Samuelson? - described as a football financier, involved with Wyness at Everton, had some dealings at Reading and was linked with Bristol Rovers.
Reports don't read very well about him.

Serious question- if the sell price was the reported £60m has Lerner written off the £200m invested by him over the period of his tenure?

I think there's a load of debt being taken on also, maybe as much as £100m.

Thanks Gerrin- that presupposes that repayments would be on a structured basis- perhaps a claim by Lerner on any future profit resulting from a sale?

Lerner bought Villa debt free with £20m in the bank according to Doug. He won't have left it debt free, I'm not sure of the structure of the debt or amount. He will have taken a hit but not for everything he's put in. It's a bit like Mike Ashley at Newcastle and the interest free £100m the club owes him.

We are £20m overdrawn and that's about it. Lerner wrote off his debt, it's all in the accounts.
That's pretty well right Percy, as at the last filed B.S. date - 31/05/15 - bank loans and overdrafts totalled £20.362m and there were also loan notes remaining of £10.397m. Randy will have input comfortably more (in addition to the original 2006 purchase price) than the £200m commonly quoted, noting that in the circa 8.75 years to 31/05/15 the accumulated negative P&L account was £248.449m (Reform Acquisitions).

I'm gonna try being positive for a change. Maybe it'll all be okay? If it isn't, I can worry about that later.

Welcome and good luck Dr Xia.

I think some of you guys are looking too deeply to find fault.
Doug said this chap/business is " Very rich" and, think what you like about Randy, but, I can't see him selling to a chancer. Certainly not with Hollis involved.

Let's look forward to a new era.

Lerner will have left us in the same financial position that he found us, debt free. Some won't believe that, they'll be the same few who believe he's been bleeding us dry for years. Anyway the slate is clean & the opportunities are there with the right people.

Let's not talk them down before they've even started.

Or talk them up.

The announcement on the official site refers to a controlling interest in five publicly listed companies. A controlling interest can mean anything from 51% to 100% and probably varies across the five companies, so too much should not be read into the performance of any one subsidiary.

I'm not sure we will ever generate considerable revenue from developing the ground.  Our best bet of doing that is getting back into the Premier League and finishing in the higher reaches.

Ultimately we wont know either way until they start their work in earnest. As others have mentioned we've been here before and thought randy was the saviour, so it would be prudent to avoid judging them too early, one way or another.

At a slight tangent, how does this takeover impact on those club employees affected by redundancy, or have they already left their jobs?
