There's no way we're sold.

I think it's quite possible a sale is close, but the question is, who to? Government owned Chinese consortium with billions at their disposal? I really doubt that. Given his past record in almost everything, I have no reason to believe Randy will find the right owner. I really hope I'm wrong, but we'll probably find out one way or another before the Euros.

I am pessimistic about whether a takeover will happen and the absolute conviction of some people on here that it will/has already baffles me. Clutching at straws- just like in summer 2014 (the shunnamite statement)

Except in 2014 no-one from the club, or the club itself, was saying anything about it.

Why is it baffling that some people think we may be sold or about to be sold. When the manager is saying that we will know where we are in a couple of weeks and he doesn't think it will drag on until July.

I'm baffled as to why people thinks that's baffling

Potentially, not bad backers the Chinese Government. How many trillion are we talking about in wealth terms??
dunno mate , i though the rumour was a pharmaceutical company

Yes, one that is owned by the Chinese government.

Is that right though? It seems the majority shareholder (~20%), and soon to own Rui Kang outright (offer announced February 17th), is China Wah Yan Healthcare. Not entirely clear on the ownership structure there but it's a listed company here in Hong Kong - not the mainland - and though I can't find detailed information about shareholder make-up, one executive director owns about 18%. I see no indication of Chinese government involvement.

China Wah Yan stated aims for 2016:
"Looking into 2016, downward correction trend of the economy in Hong Kong and the PRC is likely to continue.
The Group, while will stay focused on consolidating its business strengths to generate greater returns from its
existing assets and operations, remains open to strategic and attractive investment opportunities for becoming
a comprehensive healthcare and well-being service provider and establishing an one-stop asset management
platform."

One of our members posted, alluding to the fact that the sale/takeover was imminent.  He is in a position to know certain things and, his words were, "hidden in plain sight".  He may have posted similar on two occasions.  It's a few pages back, have a gander.  Have a bit of belief people, I do.

Fair enough, that'll teach me to believe the Mirror.

Given the mess Randy has made of appointing managers to try and protect his investment what makes anyone think he will make a success in appointing the new owner?

It may be semantics but you don't appoint a new owner, you just sell your shares to them. I know what you mean though, however I just want Lerner gone and will worry about what comes next in due course.

Bastard. Trust the H&V collective to spot the mistake. I thought I'd be able to type quickly and get away with it.

Well, I suppose it's possible the Chinese government own a substantial part of the remaining 82%. I can't find either company in a list of PRC SOEs though.
