Apparently he helped bring the weasel Downing to Anfield!
Great...

And paid 35million for Carroll. On the flip bought Bale Modric and Saurez. With our scouting structure apparently rubbish I can understand what they are trying to do having someone like him but he will need controlling by people with football knowledge above him that are willing to suggest that 20m for Downing not the best plan.  I think Riley uses similar stat analysis though.

The West Ham owners made their wealth from "Pregnant Asian Babes" and similar filth.  I would call that dirty money.

Their reward has been to be given a new taxpayer funded stadium and the proceeds of the sale of Upton Park and in 10 years time West Ham itself.  What an incredible illustration of contemporary values.

Whoever rubber-stamped the deal they have got for the Olympic Stadium needs to be sacked. They don't even have to pay towards police, stewarding or pitch maintenance. They may peddle filth but they're clever slippery buggers.

Apologies for the Mirror link but it sums it up a bit quicker than some of the others:    http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/west-hams-olympic-stadium-rent-7753635

That deal is truly disgusting. Some people have got very very rich from it.  Whoever signed it off should be taken to tower bridge and locked up. I would love to see the negotiations that took place. Similar to leeds and Seth Johnson I would reckon.  And footballs not in the slightest bit corrupt in the UK of course.

At the time you could argue that Downing was playing the best football of his career for us so £20m was about the going rate.  £35m for Carroll though was ridiculous.  I think he also bought that loathsome Diouf to Liverpool.

Diouf joined Liverpool in 2002, Comolli in 2010.

Downing was really very good in that season under Houllier. I think he and Albrighton and Young all dovetailed well to supply Bent and we looked genuinely dangerous going forward by the end of the season.

My mate did some digging on Comolli he said..

Damien spent €22 million [£18.7m] of our money on seven players in summer of last year. Only one is a first-team regular now. We gave him the keys to our club and are now in financial difficulties. My own view of Damien is he favours size and strength as the qualities he goes for first. Perhaps, he will do better with more money at his disposal at Liverpool than he did with us

Comolli left Liverpool by mutual consent.[19] He stated that he left due to family reasons but rumours have circulated that he may have been sacked as a result of failings in the transfer market.

same thing happened when he was at spurs as well, Martin Jol complained that his signings left the squad unbalanced, that means that Saint Etienne, Spurs and Liverpool have all had problems with him signing shit players

Sounds perfect doesnt he?

Comolli - I seem to remember both Spurs and Liverpool could not wait to get rid of him

Personally if there are to be new owners, I would like Brian Little to being given the job (if he wants it)

Did he unrest Downing and cause the infamous change of heart about staying at Villa?

I've no problem with a guy that can unsettle opposing players and make them want to sign for Villa.
