The Chinese guy is much more plausible as he has genuine football interest. We make sense from a marketing point of view for a far eastern investor too.

The fan consortium makes me think Ranson, Howard Hodgson and Doug have joined forces to buy the place.

why it can't just mean extensive negotiations? The one thing Randy can't be accused of is panic selling the club, so why would he start now? Lowering the price doesn't mean he cannot be careful as to who he sells it to at the new valuation.

A bit harsh perhaps but I think something has changed, be that his motivation (or lack thereof) or his asking price.

Ellison is a ruthless, driven, successful bastard.  The polar opposite Randy Lerner you could say.  I can't see him being interested in buying Villa, although he did go all in with his boats for the Americas Cup.  If he did, it would be a real culture shock to everyone at the club - we're such a nice, soft club we make the local church team look "ruthless, driven".

I said a few pages ago we'll cling to this unfounded rumour because of the exciting possibility of it being true, but I wouldn't call Metro quoting The Sun as "extensive media coverage"
