Not to serve match days conman, to support the redevelopment of VP as a major leisure venue including the stadium. Parking would be in multi storey car parks for the added leisure traffic.

Interesting point - what sort of additions do you think would attract visitors/increase revenue?

Would it really be feasible, given that there is already Star City less than a mile away with all it's food chains, cinema, mini golf, bowling, etc.

I was thinking the same - goals would be a start on a Saturday.

What about the rest of the week?

Start City is on the doorstep.
Hotels/bars/restaurants - better off in the city centre
Theme Parks (original use!) - Alton Towers/Drayton Manor nearby
NEC up the motorway

Nothing obvious springs to mind which is why I wondered what Brian had in mind.

If we score them, they will come.

My project predated most of the stuff you say, rightly, that now dilutes the yield but as the movie said "build it and they will come".

VID
I think you have some good points there. I thought the new stadium plan had got into planning problems again, have they actually started construction?
The Fenway Guys know these people so it would make sense if they could do a ground share.
It is very difficult to get an understanding of people's wealth over here. You are right that Goodison is the Albatross which is why no deal has ever been done in the past.
Not sure what the opportunities to make money out of Goodison to offset the costs of New Stadium Development. Not sure how much substance there is behind this but if Villa was a solid Prem team (as solid as Everton appear to be) there is no doubt we would be a better investment opportunity.

Chicago.

The numbers from the wealth are based on they've only quoted one guy's value and the press, being the press, will always go for the most spectacular "look at the size of that" kind of reporting, so best case for Everton is the other partner is of roughly equivalent net worth.

Here's the latest on the "New Goodison" project that I could find
where the figures in excess of £300M are mentioned. Granted that's not all new ground but includes financing for redevelopment in the surrounding areas as a condition of planning approval - there's also a snippet about the final negotiations with Liverpool before they won planning permission.

Prep work for the redevelopment of the main stand at Anfield started before the end of last season.

Pictures from the summer if anyone's interested - Liverpool Echo website.

I do wonder what happened to the idea of a hotel at the ground.

I still have my firm's drawings in my loft. There were two insurmountables back then, access from the M6 and Doug I know all about property development Ellis.

Back then Birmingham Corporation was rolling in money so laughed the idea of selling a bit of the park for access into oblivion. They are now utterly potless and would probably throw in Aston Hall for the right money.

just about to say that, Birmingham is under hoteled. VP location would make it an ideal place for a Hotel, this combined with meeting rooms seems a no brainer.

Cheers Denmark, yep you are right. This makes Evertons situation very difficult, thier rivals pressing ahead with stadium development and they seem to be stuck in the mud.
I have allways wondered even if Everton had a bigger ground how many fans they would actually attract.Everything I read from your links suggest that a £200 million purchase looks unrealistic.

if randy was still interested he could have bought the aston hotel a year or 2 ago , turned it into a hotel called  the Aston Hotel

if randy was still interested he could have bought the aston hotel a year or 2 ago , turned it into a hotel called  the Aston Hotel

And not got permission for it due to a lack of parking or customers due to it being totally the wrong sort of building at the wrong end of the ground.
