West Brom owner Jeremy Peace says the club has suspended takeover talks with an unnamed party.

"I entered into an exclusivity arrangement in good faith after agreeing terms for the sale," said Peace in a statement on the club website. "But it is now clear to me that this potential purchaser is unable to fulfil the terms of that agreement at this time."

Takeover at WBA fallen through , selling a Prem League club evidently not at all easy.Unless I am mistaken last team brought in Prem League was City 7 years ago.

If it's right that the wba potential buyer is one that Randy turned away then this is a good sign that we are doing things properly and only having meaningful discussions with people who have the right credentials and can back them up.

FFP has a lot to answer for. It's typical of big business - get in, take over the market as quickly as possible, create boundaries of entry to prevent other parties coming in and doing the same, reap the benefits. Jeff Bezos did the same with Amazon.

I think FFP will gradually be relaxed over the next few years and buyers will start coming back in again. Already seen this happen with the likes of Man City and Barcelona challenging the legislation and UEFA rules then relaxing so that Man City could do some big business i.e. Sterling.

You should probably be pleased if you're a West Brom fan though, better to reject the offer, rather than let Mr Dodgy take over the club (Like Blues did, bless em).

So the Baggies takeover has fallen through whilst our unofficial spokesman Mr Sherwood thinks ours 'is dead in the water'. The only difference is Jeremy Peace has come out with an instant statement..After quite a few days since Tim Sherwood said his piece nothing still from our Chairman or his CEO. Nothing at all.

Its still on!

unlike the baggies we never made a statement that it was ever on, so there is no need for one saying its off

That a takeover was dead in the water.

Something that has never existed cannot die. If your version of events is to be believed, Sherwood must be lying.

not really,
he bet someone £100 that we wouldn't have new owners, doesn't sound like someone who believes we will be taken over soon

we have debated this in the past, I find it almost unbelievable that you as a Lawyer can be taken in by something wich has next to no evidence
I remember you saying stuff about what Fox didn't say and reading a whole load of stuff into it, also the reason we haven't heard anything is because everyones NAD'd up to the eyeballs and its more than there jobs worth to start talking, its a load off tosh

for what its worth (not a lot) heres what I reckon has happened
there have been a few enquiries some maybe even good ones but they have stalled at the first hurdle, now if you want to class that as 'deal on' then crack on,

but I don't believe that we have had a load of blokes going through the books in top level secrecy and in a period of exclusivity for the last few weeks, what I reckon has been happening is sweet FA,
Randy still has the club for sale but at the moment no buyer

now I know you fell for all that but there have been absolutely no statements from Villa to suggest anything else, nothing at all from Randy or Fox, and the only thing from Sherwood was a money where his mouth is bet that nothing would happen.

all the other imaginary stuff you have been believing belong on TBAR, its not ended because nothing began, and no one ever said it did

Sherwood also said that there had been some people around but they had gone. Was he making that bit up as well?

Weren't there 2 bids on the table?

1) American consortium who were granted exclusivity

2) Howard Hodgson and some other Villa men, backed by investment from China
