So Collymore met with Fox and said there's exciting times ahead and then Delph turns down Man City, something must be up.

Has Delph heard something that might have persuaded him to stay?

Yes. 'We'll double your wages'
or nearly double it! I wonder if Tim Sherwood can keep up with the saga that is Aston Villa.

We don't know if there was an approach from Man City.

It could just as easily have been bullshit as the rest of the story.

When people at the Villa stores are instructed to take down promotional materials which include Delph and all the media report it as a done deal, I think it's safe to assume there's some truth to it.

Also this has been out there for a bit after the clause was revealed and at any point in the last 36 hours he could have killed it. I think he truly couldn't go through with it. I'm sure his loyalty was a factor but it wouldn't have just been that. Either way it's great news for us.

Perhaps they took it down to as a precaution to prevent any abuse in the shops.

I think the club's stance is normally not to react to the media.  With the club being away and Delph being here I think Delph may have been somewhat cut off and with speculation and reaction reaching the levels they did, this may have been why a statement was made.

We know he hasn't joined the team in Portugal. It seems unlikely that wasn't linked to the rumoured transfer mentioned on every media format on Earth, bearing in mind there has been no mention of an injury.

You do know his wife is about to give birth?

There's been mentioned that his wife is due to give birth this week though, which is a perfectly reasonable explanation.  Given he wasn't due in training on the first day but he turned up anyway I think the baby thing is more likely than anything else.

Ah, ok. So it's odd the media were so certain he was off.

Do they have other kids, settled in Greater Birmingham area schools? That could explain him staying?

So she could be at school, but only if she's really advanced.
