Even with a takeover we are unlikely to sign players of any note, regardless of what money is available, partially because of our current status but also because of the time available (I bet our scouting is not currently geared to signing 15m players).

I'm feeling a bit depressed by it all at the moment but equally struggling to care, I'm that numb to it all.

I'm confident we have the scouts to find players. The fact that personally, I hadn't heard of Idrissa Gueye, or Dennis Praet et al, convinces me that at least one of Sherwood's team isn't from the Martin O'Neill "What's Europe?" school of squad building.

What i'm not convinced about is the club's ability to find transfer fees and wages to do anything other than stand still and hope. Yes, ultimately we sealed the Gueye transfer, but it's fairly obvious to all now that we'd spent the Delph cash on him. If we're having to sell first, that's not improvement, it's replacement, and we're going to have to be very lucky indeed to replace our better players with superior ones for the same money we're selling them for.

There is still loyalty in messageboard threads.

I'm here to stay on this thread.

Until my release clause of 6 pints of beer and a swift one with the Chinese lady off of Humans is triggered and I'm off to TBAR to sit on Admin's bench.

If there's nothing  happening on the takeover front wouldn't it be in the clubs interests considering the rumours flying around to come out and say so?
After all I'm sure the club staff who work behind the scenes etc. have heard the same rumours as we have and it's bound to have an effect on their morale, not knowing if the takeover is happening or not or if it is, worrying about how safe their jobs are.

There are quite a few cost-cutting measures being instigated across all internal departments.

Could be a sign of a takeover.  I am working for a company who are currently in the process of taking over another large company and part of any potential deal was for the other company to get their 'house' in order before we buy e.g. you get rid of people that will be surplus to requirements in our company.  Not quite same as Villa as there were a lot of staff duplications but clearing out a lot of the 'deadwood' might be an indication.

Ian Taylor & Colly more saying good things ahead so I'm sort of thinking something is going on

Think they have been sold the happy clapper story by the looks of it - soften up the fans before the captain and main striker abandon ship.
Don't think that's true. For one collymore isn't afraid to call out bullshit when he sees it. For instance him maintaining that Delph would leave this summer regardless of the contract signing. Taylor hasn't been shy in criticising when he felt the need to.

I notice that this thread actually has the word "THREAD" in its title.

"THREAD", as I am sure you have all noticed, is an anagram of "DEARTH", and there is certainly a DEARTH of takeovers being discussed.

However, "THREAD" isn't just an anagram of "DEARTH", it also contains all of the letters in the word "DEATH"

And what do you experience along with a sudden DEARTH of, err, heartbeats?  DEATH, that's what.

And once you've gone through DEATH, you might as well be thrown into the .......

Yes, that's right, you've won....

We may laugh, but that's an actual 3-2-1 script you've just quoted.

Has Delph heard something that might have persuaded him to stay?

Yes. 'We'll double your wages'
