It's plain stupid and spoils the thread. We are Villa fans, whoever takes over, we support. Cut the racism please fellow Villans. We are better than that.

Well except if its any of The Kumars, Bryan Richardsons consortium, Carson Yeung, The Estate of Peter Swales, Doug Ellis, Michael Neville.  Other than these they'll have my support.

Mine too kippax but only because they'd be fucking terrible owners, not because they are from anywhere in particular or because of their colour or culture.

Wouldn't most companies have a meeting like this once in a while?

I would think so. The reason I've been trying to establish if there is a meeting or not is because somebody told me there is a press conference and an announcement, but I couldn't get a straight answer out of anybody on here.

It's way too late for Credible answers.  You're lucky not to be bombarded with several cheese or fish puns or an utterly unrelated set of responses. I mean even more so.

Is there a "post your racist and other generally offensive comments" thread on the site? Perhaps it's just me but it's getting tedious now. We may be about to get new owners, they might come from the middle or far east. Do we really need to trot out every 1970s racial stereotype?

Absolutely agree. I mentioned it a while back, in fact, but it seems to go on.

In the words of Hedley Lamarr:
"We'll take rustlers, cut throats, murderers, bounty hunters, desperados, mugs, pugs, thugs, nitwits, halfwits, dimwits, vipers, snipers, con men, Indian agents, Mexican bandits, muggers, buggerers, bushwhackers, hornswogglers, horse thieves, bull dykes, train robbers, bank robbers, ass-kickers, shit-kickers and Methodists".

I can't see anything that could be construed as racist on the previous page, are people in danger of being a bit over-sensitive?

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm not referring to the previous page, I meant the stuff about "God, I hope it's not the Chinese, it'll end in a bad place" - sweeping negative generalisations about an entire nation being pretty much the basis of racism.

There has been a fair amount of it in the last, err, 697 pages.

SilhillVilla hates the Chinese, for some reason. The rest of it didn't seem too bad to me. The post that mentioned various foreign foods was just a set up to a joke about Doug, hardly "Love Thy Neighbour".

I made a comment about the chinese a few pages back relating to the fact our beloved PM has signed a free trade agreement with China that allows chinese workers to work in Australia. We have twenty five percent youth unemployment and all the car factories are just about to close putting thousands out of work. I don't care which country the workers come from the policy is plain stupid. If thats racist the worlds gone mad.

I don't think we were referring to a post about Australian trade agreements, nobody has called you racist over that, and as a result, the world probably hasn't gone mad.

FWIW, you are saying:

"Australia has made an agreement with country x with a clause whereby workers from country x can come and work here when we have lots of unemployment"

That's clearly not the same thing as this sort of thing:

Quote
Let's hope the bidders are from the west.
The Chinese would be a scary proposition.

and the other similar posts.

Well i'm glad thats sorted, i will be happy with any buyer as long as they have enough capital to allow us to be competetative again, the bummer will be if there is no buyer at all.

The Albion announcement of due diligence came at an odd time. I suspect one of two things

1) We have finally agreed a sale to someone else, there was no point in them sniffing around B6 so they moved to target 2.

2) They were the consortium we were selling to and the deal fell though for whatever reason. So they moved to target 2.

They didn't just wait for a month into the close season before getting serious.

I wouldn't attach too much weight to the fact that there is more noise coming out of Smethwick than VP. Lerner does business properly, Peace is a Lilliputian Doug Ellis.

Wednesday could tell a lot. If there is just a staff meeting it will probably be 'no changes, back on your heads, we go again'. A staff meeting preceded or immediately followed by a press release could well be 'sold'.

If we were still for sale the club would have at the very least put out a short statement denying the rumours of a sale, no business would allow it to get to this stage.

Will these Chinese people not pay taxes that build schools and hospitals, buy houses, food and clothes? Won't people who work in those industries benefit from increased trade?

It's fine to disagree but it's not plain stupid in my view.
