We're less than 4 weeks into a 6 week exclusivity period. I'll start to worry if we haven't heard anything after that period expires around 20th July

Is this chat about the "announcement" on Wednesday?

It was, but we have no moved on to a discussion of how we will feel when West Brom become Real Madrid after they taken over by Dr.No and all we get is a statue of the Shunammite outside the Holte End.

And when the Shunammite statue actually turns up for installation, it'll look very much like this:

... at which point the club will start explaining it's not a cost cutting exercise, and the Shunammite really did look like a garishly drawn picture of Michael Jackson.

What a brilliant summer so far. All we need now is the General to re-surface.

What exactly has been so bad about it?

Id say its been pretty average so far. In the immediate future Richards will probably (just about) replace Vlaar. The rest is all hyperthetical and could go either way. We may still get sold and may end up with a sizeable chunk of cash for players. The senegalese lad may sign in the same way that benteke and Delph may leave, but nothing is set in stone yet.
I wont be getting my noose out for a few weeks yet but I would like things to start picking up a little bit

That's what I don't get, either.

What's happened that is worth getting wound up about? Nothing. Mostly because it is only the first week in July and very little has happened at all.

He's coming in alongside Lerner, it's going to be Randy and MacBook (deceased)

They used to say that, in his management style, Jobs had a "reality distortion field" about him which influenced everyone he came into contact with at Apple and other places he worked.

That'd come in handy at the Villa. I'm sure we would all accept anything - anything - that could distort the reality of four years bumming around with the dross at the bottom of the table.

Has anybody else heard that everything at VP is closed on Wednesday for an announcement? Sounds like bull to me. I mean, why close anything, even if their was one?

Still, easy enough to check out for someone with the inclination and time on their hands.

I think somebody should call up the Villa and find out what their postcode is, see if this meeting is legit.

Indeed.

I'd also be surprised if any such meeting were held at Villa Park - surely the vast majority of permanent club staff are based at BMH, particularly out of season?

Would that be true for the Commercial staff, what need is there for them to be based at BMH and does basing at VP or the club shop give them any advantages?  I looked at an IT job with them about 10 years ago and it was based at the ground not BMH I can't see any reason why that would've changed.
