If they have that sort of money they won't be buying the sort of players we're in for. If this uncorroborated story is true they're no worse news for us than they woulld be for the rest of the league.

If true, it would be another team able to try and pinch our better players from us, with the added benefit that they wouldn't have to move.

But let's wait and see, nothing's done and dusted by a long way yet.

No such problems for the Baggies?

http://thebaggiesway.com/2015/07/05/new-owner-of-west-brom-revealed/

If this turns out to be true we'll be under their shadow for many years.

Because having a richer owner than us helepd Small Heath all those years when the Pornos were in charge and QPR's zillionaires have done wonders for them.

Having shit loads of money is not a guarantee of success.

But not having shit loads of money is a guarantee of no success.

If that report is true, then there's no way it can be spun as anything other than bad for us.

If it's true it has no imnediate effect on us. It's not as though they're going to suddenly take our supporters, our money or our players.

They're going to be more competitive than us if they have money.

You could have said exactly the same thing about Man City when they struck it rich.

If they have that sort of money they won't be buying the sort of players we're in for. If this uncorroborated story is true they're no worse news for us than they woulld be for the rest of the league.

Which doesn't mean it isn't bad news for us.

Right, now we have some Stripeyblog saying they're about to be outbidding Real Madrid, based on a Neil Moxley story. This story...

I just can't bring myself to worry about something that hasn't happened yet, and there is no proof that it is going to happen.

The veracity of the story is one thing, the impact on us if it were true is another.

I hope it's not true, but as I saw it, you were suggesting it wouldn't be a big deal for us if it were true. That's the bit I struggle with.

Just like we'll all be absolutely delighted if it turns out to be us they buy, for exactly the same reasons.

It'd be bad news for all other top flight clubs, but particularly for us, as they're in our back yard.

The only impact for us if it happened is that when they stay shit, it will be even funnier!

Much like when the porno mob at small heath were going to make them be bigger dan da Villa, and they still were wank. Or Wolves were going to outspend us and Doug under Jack and never left the second division. Or when Carson was going to turn sha into a superpower. It's written in the stars, no matter what, our local rivals will always be shit.

If it's true, and if it happens, and if he spends money, and if he isn't looking to shaft them, and if their manager isn't another O'Neill, and if... Rich men buy football clubs all the time. There are still more that it makes no real difference to than it does.

Going back to the richer owners doesn't necessarily make you better point I'd say we are proof positive of that mantra.

The difference in this case is that at the moment they're not quite as shit as us.

Only because they didn't have the Lambert drag factor!

It was, but we have no moved on to a discussion of how we will feel when West Brom become Real Madrid after they taken over by Dr.No and all we get is a statue of the Shunammite outside the Holte End.

The group that are looking at Albion do seem to have a genuine sporting interest around the globe with their investments elsewhere. I don't think they will spend Man City like money, but it would be hellish bad for us if they start to act like the bigger club and back it up with putting a top 6 side out on the pitch.

Ah, but in true Internet style, there is no proof it isn't going to happen and the world reserves the right to worry very much.
