I'd expect that If the takeover drags on we won't be buying anyone and if it falls through we will be panic buying some short term shit to try to pull us through another season. I wouldn't expect anything more or less.
I agree. This needs to be sorted ASAP or we will be even weaker than last season.

I would think any owner coming in would stick with Sherwood short term (Unless it's some mega rich Yank with Klinsmann in tow of course!!)

Why settle for Klinsmann? Klopp's available next summer, wants to manage in England, wants a club with a DoF and doesn't necessarily have to be one of the top 4. Sounds like a done deal to me.

I imagine operations will continue as though the takeover wasn't happening e.g. Sherwood using club money to buy players that he knows he would want, takeover or no takeover. The preferred bidder might have given some internal information as to whether they'll look to appoint their own man, continue with Sherwood, what sort of funds might be available etc.

Jesus wept. The whole club seems sat on a knife edge. This needs sorting ASAP. 4-6 weeks of no activity is going to cost us .

We really badly don't need a long drawn out takeover. Our squad desperately needs improvement before the start of the new season.

From Fox's statement i got a very uneasy feeling Tim will be told to work with what he has unless a takeover happens. We seriously cannot go through this bollocks again this summer. We've already taken the piss out of the footballing Gods with a fourth season of scraping over the line by the scruff of our necks, it wont happen again

It'll take as long as it takes, the sooner the better obviously. Just got to be patient I suppose.

I think its business as usual until a takeover occurs. I believe we will buy players and sell some more. When a business is sold outside of football it continues to operate normally. It wont stop recruiting personnel, and it doesn't start penny pinching. The person who is buying the club is doing a deal with Randy, it isn't Randys money that we will be spending, it will be the TV money and the league money, plus transfers. As we know this is higher this season due to the new tv deal so if anything I believe we will see some decent buys. If the club failed to operate normally, this would jeopardise the price and Randys bargaining power.

Presumably no players will be leaving then unless they are out of contract ? The players are assets (in theory for some of them ) so any potential buyer would have to be consulted ??

I wouldn't panic about the time line just yet. After all just because the news of preferred bidder status was only broken two days ago, it doesn't mean that the process started then. It could have been going on for sometime already.
I'd give it three weeks before I start worrying about players in and out.

Too late I am panicked. I am now both in maximum panic mode but also "braced" for the firestorm of Beneteke bids about to engulf the club.

In real terms this means I am under the covers of my bed typing away but occasionally I stand up, run around the room waving my arms then get back under the AVFC blanket again. Oh and its six hours till beer drinking time over here.

Save yourselves!

We've been fucking useless for 5 years, I don't suppose another five weeks of inactivity is going to make things too much worse.

That Fox stuff makes it pretty clear really that:

- we can't be spending transfer money while this party are in due diligence
- he realises that
- he has told Sherwood that he's going to have to wait until the takeover goes through / falls through
- he thinks that this could take a while, hence the "get more out of what we have" line.

That's really pretty unfortunate timing - that six week exclusivity period starting in the second week of June.

If the process lasts a full six weeks, we're going to possibly find ourselves struggling. Not great.
