I can't remember if it was a comment made during the match or in a report after (or a journo on twitter, for that matter), but there was a mention of shots showing Randy chatting to Prince William, as he sat next to him during the game, but I heard someone say that at a time when Villa are for sale, the sight of Lerner and William chatting was a reminder that buying a club like Aston Villa can mean buying yourself into the company of royalty.

Which I thought was a very good point.

Just a general point, not referring to any potential takeover going on.

I agree entirely with that and it's not like the Prince has hidden his growing affection for the club. Not saying at all he's a future Holte end season ticket holder but when the third goal went in his face looked like someone that found shit floating in his pint. And in extension to your point, irrespective of what people feel about him and his legitimacy as a Villa fan, the PM who still claims to support us is another association a prospective buyer might want to "enjoy".

HRH The Duke of Cambridge certainly looked more gutted than His Gormlessness, the Arch-Goon of New York.

I think William gets to a few games covertly. He was at the semi for example but not many people know that.

I just advised Elon Musk to buy the Villa.

Tesla, SpaceX, SolarCity, PayPal & Aston Villa.

Nice.

He was at the SF with a couple of minders in a private box. No cameras or anything allowed near him. And by all accounts he was going mental when villa scored.

There will probably be a story about Prince William buying us now!

If his granny had any pride, she'd buy Villa for him a la King Carlos and Real Madrid. I mean, how could his family continue this association without exerting some influence on the club! Disgraceful!

Let's hope the new buyers aren't republicans!

Not that they exist, of course...

Club renamed to Royal Aston Villa.
By Appointment to HRH King Wiliam.

It suits us I think.

Royal Aston Villa, eh?

Great idea! Perhaps we can grovel to the Sax Coburg-Gothas the way we did to Arse on Saturday.

How about a commemorative scarf? It could read: 'Proud History, obsequious future!'
