I don't want Benitez anywhere near us, under any condition. I would hope Sherwood would be given a season at least.

Really?

Benitez is a proven manager at the top level.

I want Sherwood to do well as much as the next man does, but I'd ship him out for Benitez at the drop of a hat. In fact, well before the hat had touched the ground.

Sherwood is a young manager with next to zero track record. Benitez has an excellent track record at the highest level. No contest.

Christ almighty. Some excellent missing of the point there.

I didn't say "I want him out". The hypothetical question wasn't "do you want him out?", it was "would you swap him for Benitez?"

And that's before even getting into the complexities of things like whether I'd actually wanted him in the first place.

Calm down, what I will say is he is our manager and should be given a chance. By the way I didn't want him in the first place but hey

I know what you said, but that's totally irrelevant to the question at hand, isn't it?

It isn't "should he get the sack?", as your "he's been here 5 games and you want him out?" post suggested. If you'd read the original posts, you'd have seen the question was over whether we'd swap him for Benitez or not.

I wouldn't sack him now, no. I'd swap him for Benitez, though. Those are two totally different propositions, though.

If we had the required money and the ability to spend it (i.e if FFP didn't exist) then I'd take Benitez every time. Even if would fawn over Liverpool he's got the ability and reputation to deliver success quite quickly.

I'd take him regardless of FFP. He's a proven manager at the highest level. Sherwood isn't.

That's not Sherwood hating, either, it is just a reflection of the fact that Benitez is a manager of the calibre clubs like us should dream about (in our current predicament), whereas Sherwood is of the calibre which a few weeks ago massively underwhelmed most of us, even given said lowered expectations.

Did he not turn us down before, allegedly?

I didn't say that. You do, however, seem to be putting words in his mouth. The reply he gave also didn't indicate he needed to calm down. Nothing emotive in it at all.

Well, when he is suggesting he wants Benitez, I would suggest I am not putting words in his mouth.

Once again people are ignoring Howard Wilkinson and I find it hateful.
