Wild prediction of the season: We finish inside the top 4. Upon making it through the 2015/16 qualifying rounds for the Champions League, Randy has a change of heart and declares us not for sale and provides us with a £60m war chest to lure the cream of the European crop to B6.

It's gonna happen.

£60m? That gets you 3/4 of a top player these days. Randy better dig deep, say fuck the past, and find £250m if we are going to stay in the competition for any length of time.

Look at us talking about CL...I suppose unlike some we have at least won it :)

Who knows, a sale may be round the corner. Let's just enjoy the start.

Do your know something?  lambert said after the match that things were progressing off the pitch (as well as on it) which seemed odd to me.

I think he meant the new CEO. I am probably projecting but in each interview Lambert seems very enthused about a CEO coming in, to the point where I sense he didn't rate Faulkner as a very good one. Probably just me but he is oddly positive about him.

Not sure about that, he always seemed very complimentary of Faulkner (part of the job I guess) but I think he's just relieved that he can leave some of the non-footballing side to someone else after the summer when he was having to be a jack of all trades.

Have Tonev back or sign Ronaldo? Sign Ronaldo or have Tonev back? Decisions, decisions, decisions.

You're clearly not trying very hard.

I would suggest all these longer term contracts being signed suggest Randy has either had a change of heart or there is absolutely nothing on the horizon.

If nothing on the horizon equates to signing our players to new deals and starting the season of strongly then long may this uncertainty last.

In truth, having a stable business and one that is doing well can only be good for his hopes to sell the club.

Now Paul Lambert has a new four-year deal, surely this leaves all the supposed ITK dead in the water?

This either means Lerner is staying or a 'New owner' has given the green light for him to carry on.

How does this new owner, who doesn't actually own the club, get to direct that a manager can receive a new contract?

I wanted a takeover to happen as much as the next man, but every time something happens which suggests no takeover - the manager saying there's nothing happening, rumours from the club that nothing is happening, a new CEO being appointed, the manager getting a new contract - people always seem to find some possible way of spinning it to suggest that there is really a new owner.

There is not one single shred of evidence to suggest there is a new owner, none at all.

There are lots of shreds of evidence to suggest nothing is about to happen any time soon.

Can I be the first person to suggest "smoke and mirrors"?
