I know someone who told me tonight that the sale is done and there will be an announcement on August 1st. He's high up in what I think is called Aon insurance or something which have a sponsorship deal with the club and this is what he's heard.

Make of that what you will; could be bollocks, could be legit.

Bullshit as this may be, it's atleast about a takeover. Ooo I'm getting all excited again.

I hope this is true for a reason. Has anyone else noticed how tired and run down the Villa Village looks ? Paint peeling away etc etc. Opened in the late 90,s I doubt if it has had a refurb since. I am given to understand the offices could do with updating as well.

The new owners need to improve matters for the Villa Admin staff as well as the supporters.

I may be wrong but I think this has probably been held off on by Lerner because and work on that side of the ground would be best tied in to a replacement of the north stand.

Without going back to check on his earlier posts, the fool that's just been sacked wasn't always that bad was he?  Didn't he just flip for some reason.  TBH, I never paid much attention to his posts until he started ranting.

I was renewing my car insurance with Eagle Star earlier and the girl told me that the deal was completed.  As is the tradition, no one will bother to announce it until a couple of more vital weeks of the transfer window has passed which is standard practice apparently.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2699215/MARTIN-SAMUEL-If-Financial-Fair-Play-gift-club-owners-buy-Aston-Villa.html

I hate having to agree with Martin Samuel, but he is spot on there.

To be fair to him he has said from the start FFP would be a bad thing and he is right. It was an idea conceived by the big clubs to protect themselves from losing their spot at the top of the tree. The Prem league ,they say brings in so much TV revenue as its so competitive ..it wont be soon.

United one of the main campaigners for this ,as well have Liverpool have already showed their hands.United especially who has managed to get everything from training kits to paint sponsored. The clubs know with their global fan base they could do this and hang he rest of the clubs out to dry.It beggers belief that the rest of the clubs in the league with few objections.

You have to worry how long will it be until they rip up the TV deal and have more going to the United's of this world just like Barca and Madrid do in Spain. As a colleague pointed out to me today Liverpool have 10 of their first 13 fixtures all on TV so thats extra revenue already.

Martin Samual is spot on no one will buy us now to watch us meddle along in midtable and balance the books ..where is the fun in that

All FFP does is stop another Chavski/Man City scenario. Something needs to be done to stop clubs doing a Leeds and trying to buy success with money they don't have, but it has done fuck all apart from protect the already rich and 'big' clubs.

Mind you FFP doesn't seem to stop PSG, after already spunking all that money on Luiz, they are now supposedly after Di Maria for another 50m+ Euros.

Unless you take the PSG and Man City route and simply take the fine and say bollocks to it. FFP will get challenged eventually as it is a complete "status quo" net that allows no one to move onwards. Competition, my arse.

FFP by UEFA PSG have basically said balls to and City well they just got a fine for ignoring it..

The Prem League FFP rules are the big issue for us.

I suspect eventually the top 4/5 will fuck off with likes of PSG and have their own league.

Say United get back into champs league next year they will have an income of 200 mil from Champs league / shirt supplier / shirt sponsor alone...how can you hope to compete with that.

It has got to be illegal. If I was  mega-rich and decided to make cars at Longbridge to compete with BMW and Audi, I would lose billions of my own money for years before I could compete with them. But it wouldn't be anyone else's business, and there's no law on earth that would allow all the other car companies to get together and stop me.
