way too much unless there is enough left over for a slap up feed , a good two week holiday, paying off the mortgage and buying a new Morris Minor.

Only one more announcement from Randy then. I can't believe that, he loves it.

His best chance of flogging us is to invest a bit more now. Imagine if we were top 8 say by Nov / Dec , you may have some extra interest then.

I don't really see anything in that statement from which we can deduce anything re money for signings - good or bad.

Maybe not, but when he talks about "his" focus now being on Villa's preparation it does raise the hopes a bit. Aside from making funds available for the manager to buy players, I can't really think of how else Randy can help in that regard, in the current circumstances.

Perhaps he has taken his coaching badges or is the new bib and cones man.

that would be a real test of Randy's strategic, organisational and planning capabilities.

Jesus Christ have we not had enough of trying to read subtle hints into continuously very straight forward statements?

Expect no sale before the start of the season. No more no less.

But it's not just a repeat of his previous statement is it?

"In advance of this process however, I committed to our Manager to become completely focused on the upcoming season should there be no agreement to sell by the time players and coaches return to training.

Given that no agreement has as of yet been reached, I feel that it is time now to turn my full attention back to Villa matters at hand"

He's clearly saying that as no sale is in place at the start of pre-season, he'll be focussing more on Villa. How this focus will materialise remains to be seen, but that's kind of what people are speculating about on this thread, understandably.

Exactly. Pre-season started yesterday, and there was no deal in place yesterday, so he made a statement saying he's still on-board with the club until there is a sale. From the point of view of the organisation, you can see why he'd make the announcement that he did.

Given events of this morning, perhaps it makes a little more sense.

Reassurance that he's paying attention.

I don't know if that makes me feel more or less confident.

I think indecision and drift is probably worse than making a bad call... unless that call is Alex McLeish.

It's not even a call, more a banshee's wail.

I don't think he can ever top that decision. Unless he somehow reappointed him.
