So ask yourself what's changed, why the sudden change of heart. We've let some of this lot rot for 12/18 months now so what's new.

The experiment failed and there's no real cash to put things right is my guess.

Casting them out with the stiffs all last season and then being surprised that we get no offers is hardly surprising, actually maybe it is to our clueless bunch.
I suspect you're right in your assessment, here.
Bombing those guys out was crazy at any level.

The reintegration of the bomb squad is also a pretty strong indication that funds are in short supply.

No, the reintegration of the bomb squad is an indication that no fecker wanted to buy them off us so it makes sense to at least use them as we're paying them anyway. Besides, N'Zog on his day is a useful player and Bent could do a job off the bench while Benteke recovers.

I'm certainly not going to start wetting my knickers because the Daily Mirror has printed some guff that they've made up.

Say what you like about the mirror but I reckon they got this one right

Il be very surprised if we spend more than 10 mill this window

If we can hold onto Guzman , Wiseman and Darren Benteke we should survive another campaign (just).

As long as we keep Clarke too.

I really don't know what was going through their heads when they decided to take that route.

By ostracizing the players and agents thought they could force their hands into finding a cut price move out of the club. They were completely wrong.

I'm sure it came from the top as well.
Custodian my arse. There are some weird people out there - always find it strange when somebody out of the blue adopts a team.

Go villa!

I think we need to take into account the paper this story is printed in before we totally take it as gospel.

Quote from: Sunday People
Lerner was hardly spotted at Villa Park last season. Lambert said that he had attended several matches but wanted to remain incognito.

However, the American lawyer did not make himself available last December when Prince William visited for a goalless draw against Sunderland.
casts some doubts as to it's credibilty.
He is a qualified lawyer.

Well that's news to me .

He has a bachelors in law.  Not the same thing. - Edit checked.  His UK law degree confers no privilege in applying to law school in the US.  Any bachelors degree would count.

Link added.

Qualifications process for lawyer in New York State

He has a JD from Columbia and has passed the bar. From wiki

Lerner graduated from Columbia University in 1984, spending 1983 at Clare College in Cambridge, England. He graduated from Columbia Law School and is a member of the New York and District of Columbia Bar Associations. Prior to entering the business world, he worked as a lawyer in New York City.

Fair enough, missed that bit.

Still think it's a bit of a stretch to call him a lawyer.

You could still call me a practising chemist as I've retained my Royal Society of Chemistry membership, but it's been the best 20 years since I last saw the inside of a lab.

Surely he's only a lawyer if he's practising as one?

Not that it really make much difference.

Indeed, and that was never going to work.

Pretty sure that once they decided that they were not going to pay appearance money then they had to separate them from the First Team Squad, an ill conceived idea that went badly wrong.
