I think we need to take into account the paper this story is printed in before we totally take it as gospel.
It's hardly groundbreaking news though. Is anyone really shocked at this? They're only printing what we basically already knew anyway. If we didn't complete any more signings I wouldn't be in the least bit surprised.

Is Lerner having some form of breakdown or mental illness I wonder ? It's been one crazy half baked idea after another. He's cleared out his Midlands house aswell I see. Looks like he's totally cutting and running . He's been a very very poor custodian.

He couldn't run a bath.

Not in the slightest bit surprised by lack of funds.

We will be relegated this season I fear.

The club is a shambles.

Quote from: Sunday People
Lerner was hardly spotted at Villa Park last season. Lambert said that he had attended several matches but wanted to remain incognito.

However, the American lawyer did not make himself available last December when Prince William visited for a goalless draw against Sunderland.
casts some doubts as to it's credibilty.

'Very very poor custodian' as you put it is a tad harsh. As for him clearing out his house, who knows, it might be a sign that he's closer to selling up than we think.

He is a qualified lawyer.

I agree that things are a bit of a mess I honestly don't think we will be relegated unless key players are sold. We've got 2 or 3 very important team members returning from injury so I think we will be stronger than last season. I doubt that we will trouble the top 8 but I think a team featuring Vlaar, Delph and Benteke on a regular basis should have enough to keep clear of trouble.

But if vlaar and Delph leave ?

Well that's news to me .

He has a bachelors in law.  Not the same thing. - Edit checked.  His UK law degree confers no privilege in applying to law school in the US.  Any bachelors degree would count.

As I said 'unless key players are sold'. It is difficult to predict with any confidence what will happen but it can't be in Lerner's interest for us to be relegated and thus knocking a few million of the asking price.

True, but he's been playing with fire a bit, hasn't he? In reality, the past few seasons have been a scrap and we've not beaten the drop by a very reassuring margin. I actually think that since the Bent purchase, he's been a bit complacent about the threat of relegation.

The reintegration of the bomb squad is also a pretty strong indication that funds are in short supply.

No, the reintegration of the bomb squad is an indication that no fecker wanted to buy them off us so it makes sense to at least use them as we're paying them anyway. Besides, N'Zog on his day is a useful player and Bent could do a job off the bench while Benteke recovers.

I'm certainly not going to start wetting my knickers because the Daily Mirror has printed some guff that they've made up.

So ask yourself what's changed, why the sudden change of heart. We've let some of this lot rot for 12/18 months now so what's new.

The experiment failed and there's no real cash to put things right is my guess.

Casting them out with the stiffs all last season and then being surprised that we get no offers is hardly surprising, actually maybe it is to our clueless bunch.

There has been a lot of talk about the re-integration of the 'bomb squad'. Only time will tell whether it is anything more than talk. I still think if we get any offers then they'll be sold and will only be used if there is no other choice.

I really don't know what was going through their heads when they decided to take that route.
