I can only hope he is a stalking horse based on that.

If this guy is the front runner them I'm seriously concerned. I'd rather us fans have a whip round and sort this.

This is the problem with any new buyer of our club, they will all have done a few shady deals look at Abramovich for instance.

You dont get to be a billionaire by being a nice guy, you have to step on a few toes along the way.

Lets wait and see at least the positive is that we have a few interested parties in buying us...so we will see who comes along, tomorrow it will probably be another person / group we have not heard of who are buying us.

I voted for Winterval because I dunno what it is. Is there a new mid season break being introduced that I have overlooked?

Like in Baseball (I think)

From the Independent.

'.....he was named by Bloomberg as an investor in Doyen Capital, a London-based hedge fund which has bought stakes in leading players such as Monaco’s Radamel Falcao – effectively betting on rising future transfer fees – in return for loans to cash-strapped clubs.......'

Great.

I'd be very concerned if he's the front runner. If we'd be working with the Doyen Group then that suggests a very high risk policy, they have some great players on their books but are we really going to see the likes of Falcao at Villa Park?? I don't think so.

This Tevfik Arik guy is also straight from the Lee Hendrie school of fake tanning by the looks of him!

Great.

It doesn't sound great, but it can work- as the likes of Atletico are showing now. To be honest, it was kind of working under MON when we were buying players for around £10m (Young, Milner, Downing) and selling them for double their initial price. It's also not too dissimilar to what the likes of Everton and Spurs are doing now.

Come on! Who hasn't thrown a party with 10 grand hookers for their mates on a luxury yacht these days?

I mean, obviously not this bloke as he was acquitted.

The finance journalist who wrote the article for the Indie, Lynch, has Tweeted that this is serious enough to have the Villa interested.

Would be great if he could send our forwards to a brothel - but I bet they would still have trouble scoring.

We've had days/weeks of doom and gloom because it looks like (to some) that no buyer will emerge.

Then a fairly credible report, i.e. the Independent suggests a particular name as the front runner of 6-8 interested parties, and (some) are full of woe because he might not be the kind of bloke you want to invite to tea or dating your sister - I know the orange tint is disturbing - but maybe we should calm down a bit.

I absolutely acknowledge that there are many people in the world I would not want to be custodian/owner of Villa, but I'm not yet ready to call for the club to fold on the evidence to date. A close examination of the background Chelsea's owner might make some/many feel uncomfortable, but many more do not care.

How many Villa fans would be concerned about some 'past indiscretions' of any new owner if the investment and general management of the club was 'good' - we will all have different views on how serious 'past indiscretions' might be and what represents 'good' in terms of investment and management.

Remember people - this fella being identified as 'front runner' might be a tactic by his own people to get him taken more seriously. He might be bottom of the list of likely contenders and looking to be higher up the pecking order.

Not yet time to panic people (in my humble opinion).

6-8 interested parties is good news, if true. It gives Lerner a number of choices - if he asked each for a short biog and to commit to a future investment plan and then we have a poll on here to decide, some would still not be happy with the outcome, but more to the point, that's not going to happen. Imagine, just imagine that season ticket sales were well down on previous seasons and imagine if today was a deadline for 9 month season ticket payment plans.

I wonder what could possibly be used to boost sales.
