If that was true, that it really has only been a week, then why on earth make a song and dance of announcing it, and making yourself look desperate to sell?

He's spent eight years not saying things to the fans, why would he stop being that way now?

If that's true we are finding ourselves in potentially a nightmare situation.

I know Randy has made some mistakes but I did give him some credibility that the clubs sale was at the very least being advanced behind closed doors well prior to such an announcement and it was in effect purely a prelude to a sale.

If he literally put the statement out and then picked up the phone to his corporate broker then we could be in deep, deep shit if we want to see any action this Summer in the transfer market.

Strangely, unbelievable and quite believable at the same time with this mob.

There is nothing positive that I can see in this ridiculous situation. I can only assume that Mr Lerner had a potential buyer until recently but for whatever reason they have pulled out. If that's not the case the way the owner is running the club appears to leave a lot to be desired.

Actually nothing makes sense. I find the whole scenario depressing to the ninth degree.

What IS the 'ninth' degree?  Where does that expression come from?  Is eight degrees okay?

Three is a triangle.   Nine is the square of three.   All very symbolic.

From MysteryMan's Facebook, apparently

Quote
Villa situation ! Lerner pumped in near to 300 million depending on what report you believe ? He has a new lady from New York and along with the Lerner family getting plenty of earache about his investment and commitment in a football club that isn't a business investment . So he looks at it and thinks ONeil screwed me over promised the earth I followed him and left with the debt . He then makes a serious of crazy appointments who cost him a fortune to get rid of who also bring in players that are on ridiculous high wages . He still continues to pump money in and then goes through a series of discipinary issues ( The Herd one is yet to break ) and is now getting the fans on his back and stops coming to the games . It looks as though he is going to take a 100 million bath on this foray and probably regrets ever hearing the name Aston Villa . What seemed exciting and an adventure is just the opposite and he wants out . There are no buyers at present and he isn't going to put any more money in why would he you ask ? People keep saying then season ticket sales and hosptilaty will be affected in the wole income its what max 20% so he thinks why would I put 10 to 20 million in of my own money to generate what ? So he isn't going to do it and working on the adage he can sell it in the next 12 months whilst we are still in the premier league where all the real income is derived from . Its not good for us fans and the club but the fact is why would you think he would put anymore money in now when he wants out .

Looking pretty poor.

EDIT although I can't see it there.

Also, if that were the case then I'm convinced Lambert would have walked. Certainly he wouldn't have talked about adding 'quality' to the squad if there was absolutely no money available.

That sounds to me like MM's conjecture rather than his knowledge.

Maybe he was talking about Bent and Hutton?

That's just his opinion. The timeline is confused.

The disciplinary issues have been the last what? 6 months or so? He last came to a game December 2012. He hasn't pumped his money in the last 12 months, I'm led to believe that last season we will post a profit.

While looking to sell, I really can't believe Lerner won't try to protect his investment (meaning our Premier League status) to some significant degree.

Surely there's room for Lescott, Hoolahan and a couple of others of that ilk?

I just can't see Lescott coming to the Villa under the current circumstances. I don't think he will be short of offers.
