Got a feeling this is gonna be a big week lads

You're right. I'm probably going to finish painting the fence, and put up the rotary washing line my wife bought from B&Q.

Er, geezer.
Oh good. That's my next job. Did you cement it or used a ground spoke?

I wouldn't cement it, they are supposed to spin.

snigger childishly

I've said before that the club's communication and PR is useless. The sooner this ignorant regime is out all the better. A great way of boosting ST sales!

And all because they're not doing exactly what you want them to do.

Of course if there is a deal being worked on then I'm sure there are explanatory reasons (both business and legal) why information wouldn't have been made public.  I do agree with Villafirst, however, that the communication with the fans during Lerner's tenure has been virtually non-existent.  I maybe totally wrong, but I get the impression that the hierarchy at the club have developed an "us versus them" attitude in regards to the fans and they take some kind of satisfaction from keeping supporters in the dark.  Paul Faulkner's "everyone's got an opinion" line in his interview with Tom Ross earlier in the year certainly suggested that kind of attitude.  It even seems to have filtered down to the playing side of things, where fans have no clue about the availability and injury status of certain players (Dunne last year and N'Zogbia this).  It is extremely frustrating.

Am I the only one who couldn't care less about how the club communicates? I don't need a running commentary on everything that's being done or said at VP, and frankly even things like post-match press conferences and the like are a total waste of time. Lerner will do what he wants to do. If he decides to tell everyone about it, fine. If he doesn't, I don't see what difference it makes one way or the other.

In any case, every time he - or Lambert - makes a public utterance, it seems to piss off 50% of the fans no matter what they say. They can't win, so if I were them, I think I'd keep my trap shut too.

You get the impression from some that before Randy the communication was so much better. The internet prior to his arrival the internet was nothing like it is today.  The club do communicate with fans way in excess of how it used to be. When saying it's poor what I'd like to know is what is it poor in relation to given what they can or cannot say?

Neither do I, but some kind of communication regarding the general hopes and vision of those running the club would have been welcome in return for the financial contribution paying supporters make.  The fact that the public utterances they have made have been met largely with derision are because they have been bombastic to say the least (Lambert's constant insistence that the players were "excellent" despite results and performances suggesting otherwise, Paul Faulkner's comments that they were expecting a top six finish when we were struggling at the foot of the table under McLeish).

Talking to supporters of other clubs they can't believe how open our board/senior management are, and that's been the case throughout Randy's tenure. They even offered to meet that idiotic McLeish Out lot. Please name me another club who regularly issue State of the Nation addresses and give honest answers about injuries and how well they believe the team will do; it just doesn't happen.

I haven't really got experience of living in other places other than Birmingham and seeing how other clubs communicate with the local media.  Maybe you have got a point and that's just how modern football works.  I still find it frustrating though.

"How modern football works"

How true. In the old days, hardly a week went by without either Doug or Ron phoning me and letting me know what their plans were. Very sad.

Phoning?  You didn't get the personal invites to Bodymoor Heath and Villa Park then?

We need an announcement to announce there isn't anything worth announcing.

They should also issue a timetable of announcements, every third announcement to be known as a proclamation and every tenth a deceleration.

Is that in case things are going too fast?
Meanwhile, let us reflect upon the comfort provided by the aphorisms quoted by Rev Rose in this time of trial.

The theory was that if LondonBoy was on a wind up, having a bible quoting stalker would be sure to smoke him out. It seemed a really good idea at the time. I had an excellent lunch.
