Hopefully any prospective buyers will turn up in their brand new cadillac and decide villa is a safe European home for their investment.

Agreed. But what about Lambert ?

Should he stay or should he go now ?

How big do you think we could be if we were to have someone come in with Man City type investment? If we extended the ground to 60K, would we fill it every week if we had Ronaldo and Messi playing up front for us?

Nope we wouldn't fill it every week. Not by a long way.

I think you'd find that there would suddenly be lots of Villa fans who'd never cared about us before and we'd easily fill 60K a week.

It's possibly an acid test as to how far Villa can go. Would we attract the glory hunters.

Man City don't seem to fill their stadium every week so I doubt a 60,000 capacity Villa Park would be full each week.

I don't quite get the figures; we've had a massive increase in TV money from the new Sky/BT deal - some 27%, and the wage bill is reducing. Surely with all the extra money we could push the boat out a little in the market? We always seem to be that extra 2 or 3 quality players short, even in the MON era. I just hope that the club is sold sooner rather than later - I'm holding fire on my season-ticket renewal after the last 4 years of dross.  I wonder how ST sales are going - or are people holding back until the club's future is sorted out?

With the extra funds we have received in TV money, our turnover should have gone from £82 million to £105 million shouldn't it? So if our wage to turnover ratio was 87% before, it should be down to 68% now.

And that's before the reduction in our overall spending on wages.

Isn't the Deloitte target 50%?  I cannot rember now.  Regardless there is a lot of waste within our total wage bill so once the deadwood is flushed out we could probably buy 3 or 4 £5-£10m players.  Those players should boost us up the league (say 4 places = so an extra £4m) which in effect would generate the funds to buy another player. And repeat... Happy days.

I reckon with massive investment and big press coverage we would get upwards of 50, but 60? Not sure. It would have to be sustained success over a period of years to convert new, young glory hunters.

I still don't see what the attraction is of saddling yourself with a £300m debt minimum before you have even kicked a ball followed by ongoing investment and upgrade with no guarantee whatsoever of financial or footballing success.  It is a massive gamble for anyone.  It is different paying £63m as opposed to £300m and that sort of investment could only really come from the gulf in my opinion.

We need to face up to the fact that we are not the major draw we once were.  And with only four places up for grabs to recoup investment it is a huge risk.

I think we are in quite a serious pickle financially.

If we extended the ground, I'd imagine as is, extending to 60k would be difficult. Other clubs would generally just build a new stadium from scratch to increase potential gates by that much. I think we could push it to 50k. The problem is, extensions, or more so new stadium (not sure any of us would be happy with that), would inevitably result in significant price increases. Because of that it may result in a lot of genuine Villains being priced out of their own ground, and there's no guarantee we could fill our ground with plastic fans.

In the end, and my guess we will never really know but I don't think Randy will be a prick about the sale. He'a never going to get it all back but I don't think he needs the constant attention this situation brings. Just a guess but I believe he'll get a good price for the club, maybe not what is being thrown about in the press, but it will be as important to him who he sells to. That's why I think this is done in June sometime.
