If we're stuck with what we have then I'd certainly put CNZ straight back in the side. He could be the answer to our creativity problems if used correctly.
I'd also imagine that Hutton, as shite as he is might actually offer at least some defensive presence on the right. Bacuna and Lowton are so slight and go missing. Hutton might...well...I dunno, break a leg or two...

Bent could be useful on the bench but not much more. I don't think he's got 90 minutes in him any more.

That said, if Lambert remains, none of them will play, which at least in the case of CNZ, could spite the team.

I think Bent might be more useful as a bench

Why are people so convinced of N'Zogbia? He has been with us three years now and has kicked the ball to good effect on at most 6 occasions.

Because he hasn't played for 12 months. He's not tainted by the nightmare of last season.

exactly. six decent touches in three years is a lot more than Baker has managed in two seasons and he's tried to play in a lot of games.

Beat me to it, Steve. "N'Zogbia has something to offer" and we've been waiting to see it since we signed him. He's been given every opportunity and hasn't come even close to delivering. I'm not sure what his problem is but the first thing I'd do is make the bastard smile.

Has there ever been such a misery arse ever to grace the shirt of the Villa?

I don't think anyone is saying N'Zog is the saviour or anything, but Martinez proved that potentially if you play him correctly he can be very effective. He has shown he can play a good level in the Premier League, which compared to a lot of our squad is something worth at least exploring.

Nzogbia has shown himself to be premier league class about as many times as Matt Lowton has, over a much longer period of time and with a fuck load more money involved.  He has some quality with the ball at his feet but the end product just isn't there anything like regularly enough.  When he was fit he was shown up by the performances of Sylla who has since been pretty much unanimously written off as not good enough.

With things as they are Marc is off so it makes sense to me given that Tonev is way off the pace,  for N'Zog to come back into the fold and challenge Andi and Gabby for their spots.  Having Bent, Hutton, Given, Okore, Kozak and Benteke in the squad over the likes of Baker, Lowton, Steer, Sylla, Bowery and El Ahmadi will also make us look much stronger imo.

Even just 3 signings at the 5 million ish level would keep us up with the injured coming back. I hope Lerner provides it.

Jeez, I think we'll need a lot more than that.

A lot more than three £5m signings, as well as Kozak, Benteke, Okore and N'Zogbia to come back?

We stayed up without any of that this season, so I don't see that we need a huge amount more if that's what we're aiming for.

If we plundered the relegated sides and picked-up, say, Leroy Fer and Jordan Mutch, paid £5m to keep Bertrand and took Lescott on a free, we'd immediately be a much better side than last year.

Back on topic, rumors that PL will be leaving us in next few days from someone called Hippo on VT not sure if he's proper itk but they seem to believe him.

Anyway if he did leave would that mean a return for Bent, Nzogbia and Hutton? Slate me as much as you want but Nzogbia has skills, Hutton is well hate to say it but by far the best RB we have (watched him for scotland) and Bent is severely lacking confidence, new manager could bring him back to life, he's in his prime 29 and just 2 1/2 years ago was worth 24m. Also the experience could be vital during the sale process.

He might resign due to lack of backing but I can't see him being sacked by Randy, unless a new owner is close and approving the change as there is someone else lined up.
