The Mark Ogden just said that 'Americans don't spend money', and cited the Liverpool owners - the same owners who spent £55m on Carroll and Suarez in their first transfer window. Totally silly and vulgar generalisation.

I thought the interesting thing was when he said Randy hasn't been to a match once in two years.

Well deserved!

I thought that, too. What a load of utter bollocks.

Nursey should come on here. He'd fit right in the miserablist, no-nothing, self-important, hack.

We'd never get him out of Off Topic. The arse faced cock.

I wish I knew frankly I don't. Rumours are its a done deal. The information I have received is its £200M and it's an American. It's in the laps of gods and I don't really know I have just heard.
Lerner was a good man. And Doug has just sworn bleeped out.
Went on to talk about not selling the club to someone who was going to borrow money to buy it. That's why he chose Randy.
Said the club is in a good state but football wise in a worse state.
New owners will need £100M on top of award money to fund team.
Lambert has been restricted due to lack of funds.

Lerner's not likely to give any information on any possible sale to old Doug is he? Even at 90 Doug can't resist an opportunity to step into the limelight.

No wonder PL's still in a job then...

Promises were made to Randy by someone unmentioned, which upset him. Says Doug.

That surely has got to be MON.

Yes, I promise to reduce the wage bill, to move some players on.

*nothing happens for months and months*

Can I have half a billion pounds to buy Aiden McGeady, please?

I promise not to be a peevish little four-eyed scrote and walk out on Villa mere days before the start of the season.

Gotta be old pubeytop.

It must be said, Doug is great fun now he isn't the chairman.

Doug basically said that he knew fuck all and it was "in the lap of the gods".

Also confusingly said that some promises made to Randy had  not been kept.

Another exercise in self aggrandisement, tbh.

The facial expression I pull when I hear Doug talking on the radio or telly is exactly the one I pull when I see my father interacting with my friends on Facebook.

Poor old Doug was all over the place. He concluded by saying that new owners would have to find £120m for Randy, £100m for new players, and therefore it would cost them £2.5m to buy Aston Villa.

Wasn't he the one who also said that McGlish was never going to work because of his past with the blues?  So nothing to do with him being a shit manager then?

I forgot to tune into TalkSport at 3pm. What was the announcement?

Invest in pork bellies.

And orange juice.

Ha ha very good

There's no-one else who would have even been in a position to break promises to Randy.

For some reason an old Guardian article flashed up for me this morning, from May 2010, where Randy said MON had agreed to stay following a meeting between them. That right there is the broken promise.
